The autumn air in Montserrat was fresh and clean, and the small town was preparing to celebrate La Castanyada.
Núria walked down the street with her arms full of sheets and lists.
It was the day before the school festival, and she had to have everything ready.
The town stretched out at the foot of the mountain, with its stone buildings and surrounding forests.
“Núria!” shouted Carles from across the street.
Ell vestia una samarreta desgastada i un somriure relaxat.
He wore a worn-out t-shirt and had a relaxed smile.
Es va apropar corrents.
He approached running.
"Estàs massa estressada."
“You’re too stressed.”
“Carles, I don’t have time to relax,” said Núria, adjusting the papers in her hands.
“There’s still decorating to do, organizing the activities, and checking on the performers!”
Carles la va mirar amb un somriure.
Carles looked at her with a smile.
"Per això estic aquí. Deixa’m ajudar."
“That’s why I’m here. Let me help.”
"Núria", va intervenir una veu tímida.
“Núria,” a timid voice interjected.
Era Jordi, el nou alumne.
It was Jordi, the new student.
Ell sempre estava silenciós, amagant-se darrere dels llibres.
He was always quiet, hiding behind books.
"També puc ajudar."
“I can help too.”
She wasn’t sure if her friends could meet her expectations.
Però sabia que necessitava suport.
But she knew she needed support.
"Bé, d’acord.
“Well, okay.
Carles, pots encarregar-te de la decoració.
Carles, can you take care of the decorations?
Jordi, I need someone who can start preparing the music.”
The day of the festival arrived, and Núria was nervous.
Everything seemed to be going well until it started to rain.
Un xàfec fort va sorprendre a tothom.
A heavy downpour surprised everyone.
The outdoor preparations were ruined in minutes.
Núria felt panic take over her.
But then Carles approached with determination.
"Traslladem-ho tot al gimnàs.
“Let’s move everything to the gym.
Ràpid."
Quickly.”
With the help of the other students, they moved tables, garlands, and chestnuts to the shelter of the gym.
Núria saw Jordi take his guitar and position himself in a corner of the improvised stage.
He began to play a touching melody, a traditional Catalan song that captivated everyone.
The worried faces of the townspeople lit up, and the atmosphere filled with warmth despite the rain outside.
Núria va respirar profundament i va somriure.
Núria took a deep breath and smiled.
Havien aconseguit salvar el festival.
They had managed to save the festival.
When the day ended, Núria realized she couldn’t have done it alone.
Her friends were an essential part of the project.
"Gràcies, Carles.
“Thank you, Carles.
Gràcies, Jordi", va dir amb sinceritat.
Thank you, Jordi,” she said sincerely.
And so, amid the warm lights of the gym, with the sound of Jordi's guitar filling the air, Núria learned that being a leader also meant trusting and working with others.
The festival had become a success thanks to everyone.
