They had always worked together in great harmony, and he knew that they were the envy of many in the office.

Però avui l'Oriol tenia els nervis a flor de pell.

But today, Oriol was on edge.

El seu cap, la Sra. Gómez, ja estava esperant.

His boss, Ms. Gómez, was already waiting.

Va respirar profundament i va decidir enfocar-se en el valor del treball en equip.

He took a deep breath and decided to focus on the value of teamwork.

Quan va començar la reunió, va parlar amb positivitat dels projectes fets conjuntament amb la Laia.

When the meeting began, he spoke positively about the projects done jointly with Laia.

"Aquest any, la col·laboració ha estat clau," va dir amb seguretat.

"This year, collaboration has been key," he said confidently.

"Molts dels nostres èxits són gràcies a les nostres sinergies."

La Sra. Gómez escoltava amb atenció.

Ms. Gómez listened attentively.

Després d'una pausa, va dir: "Oriol, sé que tant tu com la Laia sou excel·lents.

After a pause, she said, "Oriol, I know that both you and Laia are excellent.

Però si hagués de triar només un de vosaltres per la promoció, qui series tu creus el millor?"

But if I had to choose just one of you for the promotion, who do you think would be best?"

La tensió era palpable.

The tension was palpable.

L'Oriol va mirar a la Laia, qui, asseguda a la sala d'espera, es veia igual de nerviosa.

Va fer una pausa.

Crec que la Laia i jo podem ajudar a l’equip encara més si unim forces."

La Sra. Gómez es va sorprendre davant aquella proposta inesperada.

Ms. Gómez was surprised by that unexpected proposal.

Li va agradar.

She liked it.

Veia el potencial de mantenir i reforçar l’equipament.

She saw the potential to maintain and strengthen the team.

"És una idea molt interessant," va dir finalment.

"It's a very interesting idea," she finally said.

"Parlaré amb recursos humans sobre això."

"I'll speak with human resources about it."

Quan Oriol va sortir, la Laia el va mirar amb sorpresa.

When Oriol came out, Laia looked at him in surprise.

"De veritat?", va preguntar-li.

"Really?" she asked.

"L’èxit ha estat sempre compartit," va respondre Oriol, sentint un pes menys.

"Success has always been shared," replied Oriol, feeling a weight lifted.

"Podem aconseguir més si treballem junts."

"We can achieve more if we work together."

I així, l'Oriol va comprendre que hi ha més valor en la col·laboració que en la competència.

And so, Oriol understood that there is more value in collaboration than in competition.

Junts, ell i la Laia estaven preparats per portar l'equip a nous nivells.
