The morning light entered through the windows of the Barcelona Startup Incubator, illuminating the creative chaos of young entrepreneurs.
Les parets estaven plenes de frases inspiradores i idees escrites.
The walls were filled with inspiring quotes and scribbled ideas.
It was cold, reminding them that winter had not yet left, but the atmosphere was warm with expectations and dreams.
Núria i Martí estaven asseguts en una petita sala de reunió, just davant de Jordi, un inversor que despertava admiració i una mica de por per les seves avaluacions dures.
Núria and Martí were sitting in a small meeting room, right in front of Jordi, an investor who both inspired admiration and instilled a bit of fear due to his tough evaluations.
It was an important day: their opportunity to secure the capital they needed to launch their tech project.
Núria was prepared, her voice clear and confident.
When she spoke, she hid her fear of not being enough behind a facade of confidence.
Martí, her loyal friend and co-founder, always accompanied her with the best of spirits.
But that morning, Martí was unusually silent and had a pale face.
As they went through the presentation slides, Martí looked at his phone and his expression changed.
Núria noticed the worry in his eyes.
"What's going on?" she asked, putting aside the charts.
"Not now," murmured Martí, trying to reassure her.
He stood up, staring at the door, but decided to stay.
When Núria began the presentation, the thought of Martí wouldn't let her focus.
He was sitting next to her, breathing heavily, looking at the floor.
"Uh... excuse me, Jordi," said Núria, interrupting her own explanation.
“Un moment.”
"One moment."
La sala es va fer silenci.
The room fell silent.
Núria turned to Martí, touching his arm.
Va intuir que alguna cosa greu passava.
She sensed that something serious was happening.
“Digues-me, què et preocupa?”
"Tell me, what's worrying you?"
His silence exploded and he finally confessed, "I got a call from the hospital.
Diuen que podria ser greu.
They said it might be serious.
No estic segur de què fer.”
I'm not sure what to do."
Núria took a deep breath, weighing the feelings of responsibility and friendship in her mind.
This was the moment of decision: to continue or to be by her friend's side.
"Martí," she said gently, "this is important, but not more than you."
She closed the laptop, provoking surprise in Jordi, who was watching the scene intently.
“Podem resoldre això després.
"We can sort this out later.
Ara, tu estàs primer.”
Right now, you come first."
Jordi va assentir amb respecte.
Jordi nodded with respect.
Although he expected something different, he understood the decision.
Finally, when they stepped into the fresh Barcelona air, Martí received another call.
The voice on the other side gave him good news: it had been a mistake, nothing was serious.
Martí hugged Núria, grateful for the unconditional support.
Els dos van somriure, alleujats.
The two smiled, relieved.
Núria learned that the people closest to her would always be her greatest strength.
Va prometre no oblidar mai aquesta lliçó.
She promised never to forget this lesson.
The day ended with coffee on a small terrace, celebrating not just Martí's health, but also their enduring and unbreakable friendship.
Thus, knowing they could overcome anything together, Núria decided that nothing was more important than those we love.
