„Hano, Pavle, musíme nakoupit na večeři,“ připomněl Jirka svému staršímu kamarádovi a mladší sestře, zatímco kráčel po listy pokryté cestě.

"Hano, Pavle, we need to shop for dinner," Jirka reminded his older friend and younger sister as he walked down a path covered in leaves.

Jirka byl pečlivý, jeho plán musel klapnout.

Jirka was meticulous; his plan had to work.

Rodinná tradice byla pro něj důležitá.

Family tradition was important to him.

„Proč nezkusit něco nového?“ navrhla Hana s úsměvem a podívala se na Pavla.

"Why not try something new?" suggested Hana with a smile, looking at Pavel.

Pavel, potěšený Haninou nápadem, dodal se zastřeným úsměvem: „Mohu přispět nějakým vtipným jídlem. Co třeba moderní twist na tradiční pečenou kachnu?“

Pavel, pleased with Hana's idea, added with a sly smile, "I can contribute with some amusing food. How about a modern twist on traditional roast duck?"

Jirka se zamračil.

Jirka frowned.

„Rozpočet není veliký. A co když se to nebude líbit?“ Otázky v jeho mysli se motaly jako spadané listí ve větru.

"The budget isn't big. And what if they don't like it?" Questions swirled in his mind like fallen leaves in the wind.

Vešli do malého obchodu na rohu.

They entered a small corner store.

Z uliček s potravinami se linula vůně chladné zeleniny a čerstvého pečiva.

The aisles filled with groceries carried the scent of cool vegetables and fresh pastries.

Po prohlídce sezónní nabídky si všimli vývěsky: „Podzimní akce na vše tradiční české.“

Hana přišla k Jirkovi blíž.

Hana came closer to Jirka.

„Podívej, tradiční věci jsou teď ve slevě. Možná bychom si mohli dovolit obojí.“

"Look, traditional things are discounted now. Maybe we could afford both."

Pavel souhlasil.

Pavel agreed.

„Zkusme kompromis. Tradiční jídla oživit moderní přílohou nebo ingrediencí. Víš, jak se říká ‚staročeské s vtipem‘?“

"Let's try a compromise. Revive traditional dishes with a modern side or ingredient. You know what they say, 'old Czech with a twist'?"

Jirka chvíli přemýšlel, nakonec pokrčil rameny a usmál se.

Jirka thought for a moment, then shrugged and smiled.

„Dobře, jdeme na to. Smícháme staré s novým.“

Večer 28. října byl stůl plný voňavých dobrot.

Voněla tam pečená kachna s moderní pomerančovou omáčkou, klasický bramborový salát s netradičními přísadami a nechyběla tradiční česká polévka.

Rodina se sešla, smála, jedla a užívala si sváteční atmosféru.

Jirka, sedící na čele stolu, sledoval radost na tvářích rodiny.
