Nosil světlou uniformu, a přestože byl vyčerpaný, snažil se udržet úsměv na tváři.

He wore a light uniform, and although he was exhausted, he tried to keep a smile on his face.

V očích měl touhu pomáhat, ale jeho síly byly na pokraji.

In his eyes, there was a desire to help, but his strength was at its limit.

"Musím pokračovat," říkal si pro sebe tiše, když procházel mezi řadami lůžek.

"I must keep going," he said to himself quietly, as he walked between the rows of beds.

Vedlejší lůžko obsadila paní Nováková, starší žena s vysokou horečkou.

The neighboring bed was occupied by paní Nováková, an older woman with a high fever.

Václav se na ni usmál a podal jí šálek teplého čaje.

Václav smiled at her and handed her a cup of warm tea.

"Děkuji vám," zašeptala slabě.

"Thank you," she whispered weakly.

Václav ji uklidnil: "Všechno bude v pořádku."

Václav reassured her: "Everything will be alright."

Zatímco se Václav snažil postarat o pacienty, zásoby v nemocnici ubývaly.

While Václav was trying to care for the patients, the hospital's supplies were dwindling.

Léků nebylo dost a personál pracoval na maximum.

There were not enough medicines, and the staff was working to the max.

Václav viděl své kolegy, Janu a Milana, jak se snaží stejně jako on, ale věděl, že to sami nezvládnou.

Václav saw his colleagues, Jana and Milan, trying as hard as he was, but he knew they couldn't manage it alone.

Večer, když venku začala padat tma a teplota klesala, Václav si uvědomil, že potřebuje pomoc.

Zašel k Janě, které prsty už byly unavené z odebírání krve, a pak se otočil k Milanovi, který kontroloval zásoby léků.

He went to Jana, whose fingers were tired from drawing blood, and then turned to Milan, who was checking the medication supplies.

"Musíme si pomáhat," řekl.

"We have to help each other," he said.

Jana a Milan přikývli.

Společně sestavili plán, jak lépe řídit péči o pacienty.

Together, they devised a plan to better manage patient care.

Dávali si malé přestávky na odpočinek a dělili si úkoly podle schopností.

They took small breaks to rest and divided tasks according to their abilities.

Netrvalo dlouho a Václav si všiml, že pacienti jsou stabilizovaní a péče jde rychleji.

It didn't take long for Václav to notice that the patients were stabilizing and care was proceeding faster.

Cítil, jak se mu vrací energie.

He felt his energy returning.

Po několika dnech ustala nejhorší vlna epidemie.

After a few days, the worst wave of the epidemic had subsided.

Václav, Jana a Milan si konečně mohli na chvíli odpočinout.

Václav, Jana, and Milan could finally rest for a while.

Václav došel k oknu a vyhlédl na zasněžené ulice Prahy.

Václav walked to the window and looked out at the snow-covered streets of Praha.

Zamrzlý Vltava se leskla pod slabým světlem pouličních lamp.

The frozen Vltava river glistened under the dim light of street lamps.

"Opravdu děkuji," řekl Václav Janě a Milanovi, když spolu seděli u prostého stolu.

"Thank you truly," Václav said to Jana and Milan, as they sat together at a simple table.

"Bez vás bych to nezvládl."

"I couldn't have done it without you."

Milan se zasmál.

Milan laughed.

"Není zač, tohle je týmová práce, Václave."

"No need to thank us, this is teamwork, Václav."

Václav přikývl a pochopil, že spolupráce nebyla známkou slabosti, ale síly.

Václav nodded and understood that cooperation was not a sign of weakness but of strength.

Když odešly poslední stopy chřipky, Václav věděl, že už není sám.

When the last traces of the flu were gone, Václav knew that he was no longer alone.

Pocit jednoty a spolupráce mu zůstane vždy.

The feeling of unity and cooperation would always remain with him.

A tak uprostřed zimy v Praze, v tom chladném konferenčním sále, Václav zjistil, že společně s ostatními mohou dokázat cokoliv.

And so, in the midst of winter in Praha, in that cold conference hall, Václav discovered that together with others, they could achieve anything.

A znovu cítil naději pod šedivým nebem města.

And once again, he felt hope beneath the gray sky of the city.
