Každý květ byl na svém místě, tráva vždycky perfektně posekaná.

Every flower was in its place, the grass always perfectly mown.

Ale Jitka měla i tajný cíl.

But Jitka had a secret goal.

Chtěla vyhrát neoficiální soutěž o "Nejlepší zahradu," kterou třikrát po sobě vyhrál její soused Václav.

She wanted to win the unofficial "Best Garden" competition, which her neighbor Václav had won three times in a row.

Václav byl známý pro své okázalé dekorace.

Václav was known for his flamboyant decorations.

V létě měl bazén ve tvaru flaminga, na jaře na trávníku obřího králíka.

In summer, he had a flamingo-shaped pool, and in spring, a giant rabbit on his lawn.

Na podzim přišel s novinkou – houfem gardeních trpaslíků.

In the fall, he came up with a new addition – a flock of garden gnomes.

Tyto trpaslíky si každý všiml.

These gnomes were noticed by everyone.

Byly barevné, kýčovité a trochu směšné.

They were colorful, kitschy, and a bit ridiculous.

Ale Václavovi se všechno odpouštělo, protože byl srdcem komunity.

But all was forgiven for Václav because he was the heart of the community.

Jednoho dne přišel Bohumil, místní údržbář, na pravidelnou kontrolu zahrad.

One day, Bohumil, the local handyman, came for regular garden maintenance.

Bohumil byl známý svou zapomnětlivostí.

Bohumil was known for his forgetfulness.

Když mu Václav řekl, aby upravil rozmístění trpaslíků, Bohumil si to spletl a umístil některé z trpaslíků místo Václavovy zahrady rovnou do Jitčiny.

When Václav asked him to rearrange the gnomes, Bohumil got confused and placed some of the gnomes in Jitka's garden instead of Václav's.

Jitka při pohledu na svou zahradu oněměla.

Jitka was speechless when she saw her garden.

Musela se rozhodnout.

She had to decide.

Buď vrátí trpaslíky a vážně si promluví s Václavem, nebo je využije jinak.

Either return the gnomes and have a serious talk with Václav, or use them differently.

A tak nápadně pestrobarevné trpaslíky rozmístila jakoby hráli scénku.

And so, she arranged the conspicuously colorful gnomes as if they were performing a skit.

Někteří vypadají, jako že se baví, jiní naháněli imaginární motýly.

Some looked as if they were having fun, others were chasing imaginary butterflies.

Celé to vypadalo vtipně a zároveň kouzelně.

The whole scene was both amusing and magical.

Den soutěže byl slunečný, podzimní vítr přinášel vůni spadaného listí.

The day of the competition was sunny, with an autumn breeze carrying the scent of fallen leaves.

Sousedi se povídavě procházeli mezi zahradami.

Neighbors strolled amiably among the gardens.

Když dorazili k Jitčině zahradě, zůstali stát.

When they arrived at Jitka's garden, they paused.

Trpaslíci byli perfektní ozdobou.

The gnomes were the perfect decoration.

Bylo jasné, že jejích hra se nečekaně vydařila.

It was clear that her playful approach unexpectedly succeeded.

Jitka vyhrála "Nejlepší zahradu." K překvapení všech.

Jitka won "Best Garden," to everyone's surprise.

Václav se smál nahlas.

Václav laughed out loud.

"Jitko, trpaslíky si využila lépe než já," uznal.

"Jitka, you used the gnomes better than I did," he acknowledged.

Od toho dne už pro Jitku nebyl důležitý výsledek soutěže, ale radost a kreativa, kterou do svých zahradních projektů vkládali.

From that day on, the outcome of the competition was no longer important to Jitka, but rather the joy and creativity she put into her garden projects.

A Václav, místo aby byl soutěživý, začal pomáhat sousedům, oceňujíc jejich úsilí a fantazii.

And Václav, instead of being competitive, began helping his neighbors, appreciating their efforts and imagination.

A tak v jejich malebné komunitě bylo najednou více smíchu a přátelství než kdy předtím.

And so, in their picturesque community, there was suddenly more laughter and friendship than ever before.

Jitka i Václav našli něco cenného – radost ze společného tvoření a sdílení.
