The Welsh Name Challenge!
Ynghanol bryniau gwyrdd Cymru, mewn pentref bach â'r enw hiraf yn y byd, roedd Dylan, Rhys a Nia yn cerdded ar hyd y stryd.
In the midst of the green hills of Wales, in a small village with the longest name in the world, Dylan, Rhys, and Nia were walking along the street.
"Edrych!" meddai Dylan, gan dynnu sylw at arwydd fawr. "Dyma le mae'n rhaid i ni ddysgu sut i ddweud yr enw hwn yn gywir: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch."
"Look!" said Dylan, drawing attention to a big sign. "This is where we must learn how to say this name correctly: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch."
Chwarddodd Rhys. "Mae'n amhosib!"
Rhys chuckled. "It's impossible!"
"Pob lwc, Dylan," meddai Nia gyda gwên.
"Good luck, Dylan," said Nia with a smile.
Dechreuodd Dylan. "Llanfair... Llan-fair-p..." Collodd ei le, wedi ei nyrsio gan deimlad o rwystredigaeth. "Llanfairpwllgwy...llgogery..." Ond trodd ei geiriad yn droell o lythrennau anghyfarwydd.
Dylan began, "Llanfair... Llan-fair-p..." He lost his place, overcome with frustration. "Llanfairpwllgwy...llgogery..." But his words turned into a jumble of unfamiliar letters.
Rhys a Nia dechreuodd chwerthin, ond nid oeddent yn chwerthin at Dylan, ond gydag ef. Mae pob un yn ymuno yn yr ymgais i yngan yr enw aruthrol hwn.
Rhys and Nia began to laugh, but not at Dylan, but with him. Everyone joined in the attempt to say this monstrous name.
"Ceisiwch eto," meddai Nia yn garedig, gan gefnogi Dylan.
"Try again," said Nia kindly, supporting Dylan.
Roedd Dylan yn teimlo'n gryfach gyda gefnogaeth ei ffrindiau. Trodd at yr arwydd eto, gan ddwyn ei holl ganolbwyntio.
With his friends' support, Dylan felt stronger. He turned to the sign again, focusing all of his attention.
"Llanfairpwllgwyngyll..."
"Llanfairpwllgwyngyll..."
Rhys nododd yn annog.
Rhys nodded in encouragement.
"...gogerychwyrndrobwll..."
"...gogerychwyrndrobwll..."
Nia winciodd ei llygaid, yn anadlu i mewn gydag ailobeithiol.
Nia winked her eyes, breathing in with a hopeful sigh.
"...llantysiliogogogoch!" gorffenodd Dylan yn uchel ac yn glir.
"...llantysiliogogogoch!" finished Dylan loudly and clearly.
Am eiliad, roedd distawrwydd. Yna, dechreuodd y pentrefwyr o'u hamgylch guro dwylo mewn ffordd gydymdeimlad.
For a moment, there was silence. Then, the villagers around them began to clap their hands in a sympathetic way.
"Dwi wedi llwyddo!" gwaeddodd Dylan, gan neidio i fyny ar hapusrwydd.
"I did it!" shouted Dylan, jumping up with happiness.
Roedd Rhys a Nia'n rhannu yn ei lwyddiant. Rywfaint o ymarfer, gefnogaeth, a doniolwch oedd popeth oedd ei angen i oresgyn y sialens.
Rhys and Nia shared in his success. A bit of practice, support, and humor was all that was needed to overcome the challenge.
O'r diwrnod hwnnw ymlaen, cawsant ddysgu bod even the mountains of Wales couldn't stand up to the spirit of friendship and joy. Ac wrth i bob dydd basio, roedd enw'r pentref hwnnw yn dod yn llai o demtasiwn ac yn fwy o gân o'w calonnau.
From that day on, they learned that even the mountains of Wales couldn't stand up to the spirit of friendship and joy. And as each day passed, the name of that village became less of a temptation and more of a song in their hearts.
