In the city with the many spires, Copenhagen, there were two friends, Lars and Hanne.

Today, they had decided to spend the afternoon by the canals, the perfect place for a selfie.

Lars stood close to the edge of the canal, his camera focused on him.

He was about to capture the perfect picture.

Hanne stood beside him, watching with a smile.

  • Pludselig skred hans fod.

    Suddenly, his foot slipped.

With a startled look and an open mouth, Lars fell into the water.

The camera flash stood out against the green water.

  • Hanne grinte.

    Hanne laughed.

  • Men hun holdt også vejret.

But she also held her breath.

Lars was a good guy, but he was no fish in the water.

  • Folk omkring dem begyndte også at le.

People around them also started laughing.

  • Nogen pegede.

    Some pointed.

  • Nogen filmede.

    Some filmed.

  • Alle grinte.

    Everyone laughed.

    Lars resurfaced, coughing and spluttering.

  • Han råbte: "Hjælp!

    He yelled, "Help!

  • Jeg kan ikke svømme!

    I can't swim!"

  • " Hanne løb til den nærmeste bro.

Hanne ran to the nearest bridge.

  • Hun fandt en lang stang.

    She found a long pole.

It was used to steer gondolas, just long enough to reach Lars.

  • Hanne rakte stangen ud til Lars.

Hanne extended the pole to Lars.

"Grab on," she said, continuing to laugh.

  • Folk omkring dem klappede og jublede.

People around them clapped and cheered.

Lars grabbed the pole, and Hanne pulled him to the edge.

Wet and smiling widely, Lars climbed onto dry land.

  • Folk omkring dem klappede og fløjtede.

People around them clapped and whistled.

Lars stood there, drenched, laughing together with the others.

  • Han tog sin mobil op af lommen.

He took his phone out of his pocket.

It was soaked with water, but it still worked.

He showed Hanne a picture of his face right before he fell in.

  • De begge flækkede af grin.

    They both burst into laughter.

  • Til sidst stoppede folk med at grine.

    Eventually, people stopped laughing.

  • Folk begyndte at gå.

    They started to walk away.

  • Dagligdagen vendte tilbage.

    Everyday life resumed.

In the midst of it all were Lars and Hanne.

  • De fortsatte med at grine.

    They continued to laugh.

And in that moment, they couldn't have been happier.

  • De havde en god historie at fortælle.

They had a good story to tell.

  • Mens solen begyndte at gå ned over kanalen, satte de sig ned på kanten.

As the sun started to set over the canal, they sat down at the edge.

Lars, still dripping, and Hanne, still holding the long pole.

They were happy with each other and with the day they had just had.

Lars couldn't help but laugh at himself.

And Hanne couldn't help but laugh at Lars.

  • Det var en dag, de ville huske.

It was a day they would remember.

It was a day that reminded them that it was okay to fall.

That it was all part of life's journey.

  • Hanne så på Lars og smilede.

Hanne looked at Lars and smiled.

"You're the best friend I've ever had," she said.

  • Lars så på hende og smilede tilbage.

Lars looked at her and smiled back.

  • "Det samme.

    "You too."

And together, they sat there by the canal, watching the sun go down.
