Talvine Tallinn Botaanikaaed oli kaetud valge lumega.
The winter Tallinn Botaanikaaed was covered with a blanket of white snow.
The trees were bare, but the tropical plants in the greenhouses looked so green and vibrant in the cool air.
Kaisa jalutas aeglaselt, vaadates, kuidas lumi õrnalt maha sadas.
Kaisa walked slowly, watching as the snow gently fell.
Ta soovis, et see päev oleks eriline.
She wished for this day to be special.
She looked back to see her husband, Mait, who was walking slowly behind her.
Mait oli mõtetes kinni, telefoniga pidevalt seotud.
Mait was absorbed in his thoughts, constantly engaged with his phone.
Kaisa ohkas.
Kaisa sighed.
She hoped that Mait would be more present, not just physically.
"Mait, vaata, kui ilusad on need taimed," ütles Kaisa rõõmsalt.
"Mait, look at how beautiful these plants are," said Kaisa cheerfully.
Mait looked up and nodded, but his gaze slid back to the phone screen.
Kaisa tundis kerge pettumuse torget.
Kaisa felt a slight sting of disappointment.
They had just reached the greenhouse, where it was warm and colorful.
Seal tundus Kaisa jaoks maailm hetkeks heledam.
There, for a moment, the world seemed brighter to Kaisa.
Liina, nende teismeline tütar, lohistas jalgu ja tõmbas kapuutsi sügavamale pähe.
Liina, their teenage daughter, dragged her feet and pulled her hood deeper over her head.
"Kas me peame siin kaua olema?"
"Do we have to stay here long?"
porises Liina, kui nad astusid troopikataimede vahele.
Liina grumbled as they stepped among the tropical plants.
"Oleme siin, et veeta koos aega," vastas Kaisa, püüdes jääda rõõmsameelseks.
"We're here to spend time together," replied Kaisa, trying to remain cheerful.
"See on haruldane võimalus."
"It's a rare opportunity."
"Ma arvasin, et see on igav," vastas Liina.
"I thought it would be boring," replied Liina.
Ta oli pahane.
She was upset.
Kaisa teadis, et Liina tunneb ennast tihti valesti mõistetuna.
Kaisa knew that Liina often felt misunderstood.
Nad jalutasid edasi, vaikides, kuni jõudsid väikese veekoguni, mille kõrval olid kirkad lillepeenrad.
They walked on in silence until they reached a small body of water surrounded by bright flowerbeds.
Seal, keset ilu, puhkes ootamatult väikese asja pärast pahameeletorm.
There, amidst the beauty, a storm of discontent erupted over a small matter.
Liina yelled that Mait never listened to her, and Mait said something distractedly about his work.
Kaisa tundis, et see hetk oli õige.
Kaisa sensed that this was the right moment.
Ta peatas nad.
She stopped them.
"Me peame rääkima.
"We need to talk.
Päriselt rääkima," ütles ta, kuid seekord kindlal häälel.
Really talk," she said, but this time with a firm voice.
"Me oleme pere.
"We're a family.
Me ei tohiks olla nii kaugel üksteisest."
We shouldn't be this distant from each other."
See oli hetk, mil kõik peatusid.
It was a moment when everything stopped.
Mait märkas Kaisa tõsidust ja pani telefoni kotti.
Mait noticed Kaisa's seriousness and put his phone away.
Liina vaatas ema pisaratega silmis.
Liina looked at her mother with tears in her eyes.
"Ma ei taha, et me oleksime sellised," ütles Kaisa pehmelt.
"I don't want us to be like this," said Kaisa softly.
Seejärel hakkasid nad rääkima.
Then they started to talk.
Kõik kolm.
All three of them.
Nad rääkisid oma tunnetest ja muredest.
They talked about their feelings and concerns.
Esimest korda üle pika aja kuulasid nad üksteist tõeliselt.
For the first time in a long time, they truly listened to each other.
"Mul on kahju," ütles Mait lõpuks.
"I'm sorry," said Mait finally.
"Ma olin töö pärast hajameelne.
"I was distracted because of work.
Ma tean, et pean siin olema."
I know I need to be here."
Ka Liina leebus.
Even Liina softened.
"Andke mulle lihtsalt veidi ruumi," ütles ta häbelikult.
"Just give me a little space," she said shyly.
"Aga ma tahan ikka meie perekonna osaks jääda."
"But I still want to be part of our family."
Kaisa tundis kergendust.
Kaisa felt relieved.
Perhaps not all problems were solved, but they had taken the first step.
Nad ühendusid uuesti, ja lumi kasvuhoone ümber vaibus, jättes neile rahuliku talvehommiku vaikuse.
They reconnected, and the snow around the greenhouse settled, leaving them with the calm silence of a winter morning.
Lõpuks lahkusid nad botaanikaaiast, hoides endiselt üksteise lähedust, olles lubanud, et nad suhtlevad edaspidi rohkem ja viljakamalt.
Finally, they left the botaanikaaed, still holding each other close, having promised to communicate more and better in the future.
