Cliffside Chats with a Charming Sheep
Lá breá geal a bhí ann agus bhí Sean agus Aoife ag siúl ar bhruacha airde Aillte an Mhothair.
It was a beautiful, bright day, and Sean and Aoife were walking on the high cliffs of the Cliffs of Moher.
Bhí na radharcanna timpeall orthu dochreidte - an t-aigéan ag bualadh in aghaidh na n-aillte go cumhachtach agus na héin ag screadail os a gcionn.
The sights around them were incredible - the ocean crashing forcefully against the cliffs and the birds screeching above them.
Chas Aoife timpeall ansin agus dúirt sí le Sean, "Beidh mé siar ann amach ag féachaint ar na bláthra. Ná fág an cosán agus ná téigh ró-gar don imeall."
Aoife turned around and said to Sean, "I'll be back out there looking at the flowers. Don't leave the path and don't go too close to the edge."
"Tá go maith," arsa Sean, ach é ag breathnú amach ar an bhfarraige le smaoineamh domhain ina cheann.
"All right," said Sean, while he looked out at the sea with deep thoughts in his head.
Tar éis tamaill, chuala Sean guth beag ait ag caint leis. Bhí sé ag súil go mbeadh sé leis féin leis na radhairc a thógáil isteach, ach d’fhan guth an duine seo ag bualadh ina chluasa.
After a while, Sean heard a small, strange voice speaking to him. He was hoping to be alone to take in the sights, but the voice of this person remained in his ears.
"Aloha, a Sheain!" arsa an ghuth. Bhí iontas ar Sean nuair a chonaic sé nach raibh ann ach caora cainteach. Níor chuala sé trácht ar chaora cainteach riamh roimhe seo.
"Hello, Sean!" said the voice. Sean was surprised when he saw that it was only a talking sheep. He had never heard of a talking sheep before.
"Cad is ainm duit?" arsa an chaora le béic bheag gealgháireach.
"What's your name?" said the sheep with a bright, small laugh.
"Is mise Sean," ar sé go hamhrasach, ag féachaint timpeall air chun a chinntiú nach raibh daoine eile ag féachaint.
"I am Sean," he said doubtfully, looking around to make sure no one else was watching.
"Is mise Caoimhín," arsa an chaora. "Táim anseo gach lá ag féachaint ar na daoine ag teacht agus ag imeacht."
"I am Caoimhín," said the sheep. "I am here every day watching the people come and go."
Thosaigh Caoimhín ag insint scéalta faoi na turasóirí a chonaic sé agus na rudaí iontacha a tharlaíonn ag an Aillte anseo. Bhí Sean gafa sa chomhrá, ach bhí sé ag iarraidh bealach a fháil le éalú chomh maith, mar bhí sé i ndáiríre ag iarraidh taitneamh a bhaint as na radharcanna iontacha le Aoife.
Caoimhín began telling stories about the tourists he had seen and the wonderful things that happen here at the Cliffs. Sean was caught up in the conversation, but he wanted to find a way to escape as well, as he really wanted to enjoy the amazing sights with Aoife.
Tar éis tamaill, thuig Sean go raibh sé ag caint leis an gcaora chomh fada sin go raibh Aoife imithe as radharc. Níor smaoinigh sé ar an t-am a chuaigh thart ag éisteacht leis na scéalta ón gcaora! Ansin dúirt sé le Caoimhín, "Tá brón orm, a chara, ach caithfidh mé Aoife a fháil anois."
After a while, Sean realized that he was talking to the sheep for so long that Aoife had disappeared from sight. He didn't think about the time that had passed listening to the sheep's stories! Then he told Caoimhín, "I'm sorry, my friend, but I must find Aoife now."
Léim Caoimhín suas go spreagúil agus dúirt, "Beidh mise in ann cabhrú leat. Tá aithne mhaith agam ar na slíocha timpeall anseo!"
Caoimhín jumped up cheerfully and said, "I will be able to help you. I know the paths around here very well!"
Mar sin, le cabhair ó Chaoimhín, d'éirigh le Sean Aoife a aimsiú ag plé le bláthanna áille.
So, with Caoimhín's help, Sean managed to find Aoife while admiring the beautiful flowers.
"Aoife! Tá brón orm. Bhí mé ag caint le..."
"Aoife! I'm sorry. I was talking to..."
Ach ansin stop Sean agus cheap sé faoin scéal. An ndéarfadh sé go fíor gur bhuail sé le caora cainteach? D'fhéach sé ar Chaoimhín, a bhí ag gáire go ciúin, agus d’athraigh sé a intinn.
But then Sean stopped and reconsidered the situation. Would he really say that he met a talking sheep? He looked at Caoimhín, who was quietly smiling, and changed his mind.
"Bhí mé ag breathnú ar an radharc, sin an méid," arsa Sean.
"I was looking at the scenery, that's all," said Sean.
Rinne Aoife gáire agus rug sí ar lámh Sheáin. "Bhuel, beidh go leor ama againn le haghaidh radharcanna eile," ar sí. "Anois, abair slán le do chara."
Aoife laughed and took Sean's hand. "Well, we'll have plenty of time for more sights," she said. "Now, say goodbye to your friend."
D'fhéach Sean ar Chaoimhín agus dúirt sé go buíoch, "Go raibh maith agat as do chuideachta, Caoimhín."
Sean looked at Caoimhín and said thank you, "Thank you for your company, Caoimhín."
"Slán go fóill!" arsa Caoimhín agus é ag siúl ar ais i dtreo an fhéir ghlais.
"Goodbye for now!" said Caoimhín as he walked back towards the green grass.
Siúil Sean agus Aoife le chéile, láimh ar láimh, agus d’fhág siad an chaora cainteach ina ndiaidh ag na hAillte draíochtúla sin. Áit chomh hiontach a bhí ann, áit áit ar bhféadfá bheith cinnte go dtarlódh aon rud.
Sean and Aoife walked together, hand in hand, and left the talking sheep behind at those magical Cliffs. It was such an amazing place, a place where anything could happen.
