  • I mbrothall na maidine, le gaoith bhog ag séideadh ón Atlantach, chruinnigh Siobhán, Brendan agus Liam ar aillte móra, Aillte an Mhothair.

In the morning mist, with a gentle breeze blowing from the Atlantic, Siobhán, Brendan, and Liam gathered on the great cliffs, the Cliffs of Moher.

  • Bhí cuimhne speisialta ag a Mamó anseo.

Their Grandma had a special memory here.

  • Bhí sí i ngrá leis an áit iontach seo.

She was in love with this wonderful place.

  • "Is iontach an lá é," a dúirt Siobhán, ag breathnú amach ar an bhfarraige mhór.

"It's a wonderful day," said Siobhán, looking out at the vast sea.

  • Bhí luaithreach bheag i mbosca adhmaid aici.

She had a small amount of ashes in a wooden box.

  • Bhí siad anseo chun mianta Mamó a chomhlíonadh.

They were here to fulfill Grandma's wishes.

  • Bhí sin a dúirt sí rogha isteach i ndiaidh a bás.

That’s what she had asked for after her death.

  • Agus an bosca idir a lámha crith, shiúil Siobhán go barr na haille.

With the box trembling in her hands, Siobhán walked to the edge of the cliff.

  • Lean Brendan agus Liam í go ciúin.

Brendan and Liam followed her quietly.

  • Ní raibh gíog as éinne.

    Not a sound was heard.

  • Bhí meascán de bhrón agus d'áthas orthu.

They felt a mix of sadness and joy.

  • Bhí siad brónach go raibh Mamó imithe, ach sásta go raibh siad in ann a mian deiridh a chomhlíonadh.

They were sad that Grandma was gone but happy to be able to fulfill her final wish.

  • D'éirigh an ghaoth beagán níos láidre nuair a sheas Siobhán ar an imeall.

The wind picked up slightly as Siobhán stood at the edge.

  • "Mamó, táimid anseo ar do shon," a dúirt sí go bog.

"Grandma, we are here for you," she said softly.

  • D'oscail sí an bosca go cúramach agus scaoil sí an luaithreach amach.

She opened the box carefully and released the ashes.

  • Chuir an ghaoth é thart timpeall orthu, ag dul isteach san fharraige.

The wind carried them around, spreading them into the sea.

  • Thóg Brendan a lámh agus chuir sé ar ghualainn Siobhán.

Brendan placed his hand on Siobhán's shoulder.

  • Bhí deoir ina shúile.

There was a tear in his eye.

  • "Tá sí lena hionúine anois," a dúirt sé go háiciúil.

"She is with her loved ones now," he said quietly.

  • Thug Liam barróg di freisin.

    Liam hugged her too.

  • Bhí siad ann le chéile mar theaghlach, beagnach mar a bhí Mamó á thaispeáint dóibh an bealach.

They were together as a family, almost as if Grandma was showing them the way.

  • D'fhan siad ansin go ceann beagán eile, ag faire ar an bhfarraige agus ag smaoineamh ar a Mamó.

They stayed for a little while longer, watching the sea and thinking about their Grandma.

  • "Caithfimid teacht anseo arís," a dúirt Liam go tobann.

"We need to come back here again," Liam said suddenly.

  • "Ar ócáidí speisialta, mar teaghlaigh.

"On special occasions, as a family.

  • Bheadh Mamó sásta sin a chloisteáil.

Grandma would love to hear that."

  • "D'aontaigh Siobhán agus Brendan, ag miongháire beagán.

Siobhán and Brendan agreed, smiling a little.

  • Bhí a gcuimhne ar Mhamó níos soiléire anois.

Their memory of Grandma was clearer now.

  • Bhí sí áthasach lena hintinn scaipthe ar a spota is ansa léi.

She was happy with her spirit scattered in her favorite spot.

  • D'fhág siad na haille le croíthe níos éadroime agus le mothú fáisnéise nua.

They left the cliffs with lighter hearts and a feeling of new understanding.

  • Bhí a nMamó i gcónaí leo, fiú amháin nuair nach raibh siad in ann í a fheiceáil.

Their Grandma was always with them, even if they couldn’t see her.

  • Bhí a chuimhne beo, ar nós an ghaoithe ar an bhfarraige.

Her memory was alive, like the wind on the sea.

  • An uair sin, d'fhág siad Aillte an Mhothair, croíthe troma ach teaghlaigh gar.

At that moment, they left the Cliffs of Moher, heavy-hearted but close-knit as a family.

  • Agus bhí a fhios acu go raibh Mamó fós ag faire aníos orthu, peirspictíocht nua ar a saol cé go raibh sí imithe.

And they knew that Grandma was still watching over them, a new perspective on life even though she was gone.
