Niamh was trying to get them back, but nothing was working.

  • “Cillian, tá na caoirigh ar foluain agam!” ghlaoigh sí agus í ag rith thart, ag titim agus ag éirí arís.

“Cillian, the sheep are loose!” she shouted as she ran around, falling and getting up again.

  • Rith na caoirigh ar gach taobh di, bhí sí pinbhrealaithe.

The sheep ran in all directions around her, and she was flustered.

But something stirred in Niamh, something that made her want to continue on her own.

  • “Níl a mhaidin, beidh mé ábalta,” dúirt sí, cé go raibh sí scriosta.

“No, I'll manage,” she said, even though she was exhausted.

  • Sheas Cillian ar leataobh, ag faire go mb'fhéidir go mbeadh géarghá leis cabhrú.

Cillian stood to the side, watching in case he was truly needed.

  • "Tá, tá!" ar sí ach idir an t-am a raibh sí ag gáire lena rath, scaoil na caoirigh arís arís é.

"Yes, yes!" she exclaimed, but just as she was laughing at her success, the sheep escaped again.

  • Cé go n-árdódh é, thosaigh Niamh ag gáire air féin.

Despite everything, Niamh started to laugh at herself.

  • Lean sí na caoirigh tríd na páirceanna, rith siad ar aghaidh go han-tapa ach choinnigh sí leis ar fad.

She followed the sheep through the fields, they ran very fast but she kept up with them all the way.

  • Féachaint di splan Niamh ag gáire, go mall, d’inis Cillian freisin.

Watching Niamh laugh, slowly, Cillian began laughing too.
