Bhí an ghrian ag taitneamh go léir, ag scaipeadh scathanna beaga ar an talamh ochtrach faoi chaisleán ársa.
The sun was shining brightly, casting small shadows on the ochre ground beneath the ancient castle.
Timpeall na fairsinge seo bhí an féile athbheochana ag tarlú, lán de dathanna agus fuaimeanna.
Around this expansive setting, the renaissance fair was taking place, full of colors and sounds.
Bhí daoine gléasta suas i gcótaí fada agus clogad, ag siúl idir na botháin a thairg suaitheantais dragúin agus cosa tuirce móra.
People were dressed up in long coats and helmets, walking among the stalls offering dragon emblems and large turkey legs.
Bhí Aoife, Ronán, agus Cian ann, a gcroíthe lán le sceitimíní agus beagán faitíos.
Aoife, Ronán, and Cian were there, their hearts full of excitement and a bit of fear.
Tharraing Aoife a cuid cairde go dtí imeall an tábhailte agus dúirt sí, “Feicfidh mé na ridders! Táim chun páirt a ghlacadh!”
Aoife dragged her friends to the edge of the crowd and said, “I will see the knights! I'm going to take part!”
D'fhéach Ronan agus Cian ar a chéile, a fhios acu go mb'fhéidir go raibh an eachtra seo níos mó ná mar a shíl sí.
Ronan and Cian looked at each other, knowing perhaps this adventure was bigger than she thought.
“Ach Aoife, níl a fhios againn conas dul sa seabhac!” a dúirt Ronan, buartha faoi phlean Aoife.
“But Aoife, we don't know how to joust!” said Ronan, worried about Aoife's plan.
D'fholaigh Cian a imní le magadh beag, “Beidh tusa agus an daimhse nó an daithí eile ag casadh ar an mbreith!”
Cian hid his concern with a little joke, “You'll be the dancer or the jester on the horse!”
Ach Ara, bhí Aoife ró-thóghta leis an tsmaoineamh, d'imigh sí isteach sa réimse, miongháire ar a haghaidh.
But alas, Aoife was too excited with the idea, she marched into the arena, a smile on her face.
Bhí an fómhar réidh, duilliúir órga ag titim anuas timpeall na lántín.
The harvest was ready, golden leaves falling around the lantern field.
Bhí heachtra dáiríre ag an féile seo. Comórtas uasal, ach bhí craos Aoife níos déine; bhí sé níos mó cosúil le fuatgneming.
This festival had a serious event. A noble competition, yet Aoife's eagerness was more intense; it was more like a giddy adventure.
Ghléas Aoife i gcuma ridire.
Aoife dressed up like a knight.
Fuair sí clogad a bhí ró-mhór di agus sciath a léirigh lus na gréine, an bláth ab ansa léi.
She found a helmet that was too big for her and a shield that displayed a sunflower, her favorite flower.
Anois, bhí sí i lár an aonaigh.
Now, she was in the middle of the fair.
“Tá mé réidh!” a scairt sí, cé go raibh Ronan agus Cian ag crith le himní.
“I'm ready!” she shouted, although Ronan and Cian were trembling with worry.
Thosaigh an gag Beidh an-agam and d'éist gach duine sa tóraím leis an gáir.
The buzz of excitement began, and everyone in the arena listened to the call.
Ar dtús, bhí Aoife ag iarraidh an síota a choinneáil, ach bhí sé ró-throm di.
At first, Aoife tried to hold the lance, but it was too heavy for her.
D'fhéach Ronan agus Cian le croí ag gáire, ag tnúth le haon eireaball-each a thiocfadh.
Ronan and Cian watched with hearts full of laughter, anticipating any possible horse tail (unexpected event).
Ar deireadh, thóg Aoife na miontuairiscí de chuid chiuinsitheach, í féin agus a hack á rothlú.
Finally, Aoife took precise minutes of clumsiness, spinning herself and her hack (horse) around.
Chaill sí a comhionann, ag titim go gleóiteach taobh thiar di as an capaill sa féar fómhair.
She lost her balance, falling gloriously behind the horse in the autumn grass.
Bhí seanscéalta le fuaim bhrónach sa slua, ach bhí tobar mór gáire ann.
There was a gasp from the crowd, yet a great well of laughter followed.
D'éirigh Aoife ag gáire féin, luas na síneála aitheanta ag tabhairt áthais.
Aoife got up laughing herself, the speed of the fall bringing a joyous thrill.
“Féach, níl ann ach cluiche!” a scairt Cian, ag eagrú Aoife.
“See, it's just a game!” shouted Cian, encouraging Aoife.
Faoi cheann crónn slua, fuair Aoife corn de shórt eile. Corn an chluiche is fearr.
Under the crowd's cheer, Aoife received another kind of prize. The prize for the best fun.
Bhí sé iascaí, ach ba é a bhí go maith rí-rá agus gáirí, ag tabhairt go leor áthair do gach duine i láthair.
It was clumsy, but it was a good mix of fun and laughter, bringing plenty of delight to everyone present.
Fágadh Aoife ag tús trodaí eile, ach anois bhí a croí ina leacáin gáire.
Aoife was left at the start of another joust, but now her heart was light with laughter.
Tháinig ais aoibhneas na féile, ag tabhairt gail ar chroí gach aon duine.
The joy of the fair returned, bringing warmth to everyone's hearts.
Agus in imeacht na himeachtaí, thuig Aoife rud tábhachtach: uaireanta is fearr cluichí an tsaol a fhoghlaim trí thalmhaíocht taitneamhach!
And within the course of events, Aoife realized something important: sometimes the best lessons of life are learned through enjoyable play!
Thóg an lá deireadh ag an meán lae, gach duine ag imeacht, ag tabhairt na háthais agus na scéalta abhaile leo.
The day wrapped up by noon, everyone leaving, taking the joys and stories home with them.
Agus Aoife bhí lán sásta, ag feiceáil an tábhachtach is é an cac farraige, ag siamsú agus ag scáil ar chroíthe na ndaoine timpeall uirthi.
And Aoife was completely satisfied, seeing the importance of camaraderie, entertaining and touching the hearts of those around her.
