On an autumn afternoon, as the cool breeze caressed the alleyways of the old city in Yerushalayim, Eitan crossed the gates in search of his family home.
The market was bustling with people preparing for the holiday of Sukkot.
The scents of etrog and lulav mingled with the vibrant and lively sounds of the market.
Eitan, after years abroad, felt like a stranger in his own city.
Shira, his older sister, came out to meet him.
"Eitan!" she called out joyfully, "I'm happy you're back."
She was a young and energetic woman, dressed in delicate clothes adorned with Shabbat embroidery.
She embraced him warmly.
"Come, there's a lot to do."
Eitan smiled, but inside he felt a tightness.
He didn't know how to reintegrate into the family life and traditions he had left behind.
"I'm... here to help," he responded hesitantly.
Shira understood his feelings and wanted to help him get back on track.
The family sukkah was decorated with colorful decorations and lights that turned on as evening fell.
Everyone gathered for the first dinner.
Eitan sat on the side, watching.
The tradition seemed distant and different to him.
Nevertheless, when Shira began to sing the traditional anthem, he moved closer and joined in quietly.
During the meal, amidst conversations and laughter, Eitan began to share about his time abroad.
He talked about the cultures he encountered, the friends and languages he learned, and the constant desire he felt—to return to his roots.
Hearing his story moved the family.
They all looked at him, suddenly understanding the complex emotions he felt.
From that moment on, the feeling that accompanied Eitan changed.
He began to feel a part of his family, as he always had been.
With Shira paving the way for him, he realized that tradition and family are a safe nest to which he could always return.
In an unexpected decision, Eitan announced that he would stay in the country for a longer period.
He wanted to explore his roots and mostly spend more time with his family.
As the holiday came to an end, he felt love and a renewed connection to his culture and parents.
In the streets of Yerushalayim, with the end of Sukkot, he knew he was home.
The light in his soul rekindled, becoming powerful and touching.
Eitan was part of the family story, and he was proud of it.
