Spilled Coffee Sparks Unlikely Bond
The sun was already high in the sky when Marko stepped into a noisy café in the center of Zagreb.
It was one of those modern cafes with wooden tables and colorful cushions, always smelling of fresh coffee and baked goods.
Marko je ovdje dolazio često, uvijek je birao isti kutak i isti napitak - crnu kavu bez šećera.
Marko came here often, always choosing the same corner and the same drink - black coffee without sugar.
Toga dana kafić je bio prepun ljudi.
That day, the café was crowded.
Music was playing from the speakers, and people kept coming in and out.
Marko was carrying his coffee very carefully, but suddenly, someone's bag caught his leg and he lost his balance.
At that moment, Ana, a young girl with red hair and sunglasses, was just placing her book on the table.
When Marko stumbled, the hot coffee flew through the air and landed straight on Ana's white pants.
"Ouch!" Ana exclaimed, while laughter and chatter filled the café.
Marko blushed with embarrassment.
"I'm sorry, I really didn't see you," he apologized faster than his thoughts.
Ana tried to clean up the mess with a tissue, but it was in vain.
"It's okay," she said, trying to smile.
"Svi trebamo malo užurbanosti u našim životima, zar ne?"
"We all need a bit of chaos in our lives, don't we?"
Feeling responsible, Marko decided to make things right.
"Dozvolite mi da vam kupim novu kavu, i...," oklijevao je, "novi par hlača?"
"Let me buy you a new coffee, and..." he hesitated, "a new pair of pants?"
Ana je bila iznenađena.
Ana was surprised.
"Hoćete li baš kupiti hlače nekoj tko vam je potpuni stranac?"
"Are you really going to buy pants for a complete stranger?"
"Naravno," odgovorio je Marko s osmijehom.
"Of course," Marko replied with a smile.
"To je najmanje što mogu učiniti."
"It's the least I can do."
Ana relented and they went to a nearby store together.
Kupili su nove hlače i, naravno, novu kavu.
They bought new pants and, of course, new coffee.
As they returned to the café, they realized they shared many common interests, including a love for books and old music.
Their encounter ended with a warm handshake and a promise to meet again in the same café, at the same time, next week.
And the café in Zagreb, which had witnessed their mishap, became a witness to the new beginning of their friendship.
