Reuniting at Sunset: A Family's Return to Dubrovnik
Blještavo sunce polagano se spuštalo nad Dubrovnikom.
The dazzling sun was slowly setting over Dubrovnik.
Stari grad je bio prepun ljudi.
The old town was filled with people.
Zastave su lepršale, zrakom je mirisalo more.
Flags were fluttering, and the air smelled of the sea.
Bio je blagdan svetog Blaža.
It was the feast day of Saint Blaise.
Ivana je stajala ispred gradske vijećnice.
Ivana was standing in front of the town hall.
Imala je dugu crnu kosu i plave oči.
She had long black hair and blue eyes.
She was excited because today she would see her family.
Marko, njezin brat, i Petra, njihova rođakinja, dolaze.
Marko, her brother, and Petra, their cousin, were coming.
"Marko!
"Marko!
Petra!
Petra!"
" viknula je Ivana kad ih je ugledala.
Ivana shouted when she saw them.
Marko je nosio veliki ruksak, a Petra je imala crvenu haljinu.
Marko was carrying a large backpack, and Petra was wearing a red dress.
Oboje su se smješkali.
They were both smiling.
"Ivana, tako mi je drago da te vidim!
"Ivana, I’m so glad to see you!"
" rekao je Marko i zagrlio sestru.
Marko said and hugged his sister.
"Kako je prošlo putovanje?
"How was the trip?"
" pitala je Ivana.
Ivana asked.
"Odlično.
"Great.
Vlak nije kasnio," odgovorila je Petra.
The train wasn’t late," Petra replied.
Zajedno su krenuli prema Stradunu.
They headed toward Stradun together.
Tu su bile štandovi s rukotvorinama, suvenirom i hranom.
There were stalls with handicrafts, souvenirs, and food.
Svuda su bili ljudi.
People were everywhere.
"Sjećam se kad smo kao djeca dolazili ovdje," prisjećala se Ivana.
"I remember when we used to come here as children," Ivana recalled.
"Da, jeli smo sladoled i vođeni smo djedovom rukom," dodao je Marko.
"Yes, we ate ice cream and were led by grandpa’s hand," Marko added.
"Želim pojesti kolač od rogača," rekla je Petra.
"I want to eat a carob cake," Petra said.
They stopped at a stall and bought the cake.
Petra je uživala u svakom zalogaju.
Petra enjoyed every bite.
Prolazili su kroz grad i gledali ulicama svečanu povorku.
They walked through the town and watched the festive parade on the streets.
Bile su glazbene skupine, plesači i ljudi u narodnim nošnjama.
There were musical groups, dancers, and people in traditional costumes.
"Ivana, jesi li vidjela onaj stari dvorac?
"Ivana, did you see that old castle?
We always used to play there," Marko said.
"Igrali smo skrivača," nasmijala se Ivana.
"We played hide and seek," Ivana laughed.
Došli su do starog dvorca.
They arrived at the old castle.
They remembered how much they loved those places.
They all sat on the wall and looked out at the sea.
"Obitelj je najvažnija," rekao je Marko ozbiljno.
"Family is the most important thing," Marko said seriously.
"Tako je," složila se Petra.
"That’s right," Petra agreed.
Večer se spustila nad gradom.
Evening settled over the town.
The sky was red, and the stars were slowly coming out.
"Sretan blagdan svetog Blaža," rekla je Ivana.
"Happy feast of Saint Blaise," Ivana said.
"Sretan blagdan," složili su se Marko i Petra.
"Happy feast," agreed Marko and Petra.
Bilo im je lijepo zajedno.
They were happy to be together.
They knew they would always have each other, no matter what.
Ivana, Marko, and Petra returned home with smiles on their faces and love in their hearts.
Kraj.
The End.
