  • Sunce je sjalo iznad Zagreba.

    The sun shone over Zagreb.

The warm summer day was at its peak, and the streets were full of people.

  • Mirisi cvijeća i hrane širili su se zrakom.

The scents of flowers and food wafted through the air.

Not far from the square stood an orphanage, the place where Anja lived.

  • Anja je imala samo 12 godina.

Anja was only 12 years old.

She was kind and resourceful but often nervous and insecure.

  • Danas je bio poseban dan za Anju.

Today was a special day for Anja.

She had decided to go shopping to buy herself a new summer dress.

She wanted to look beautiful at the summer festival that would soon take place.

  • "Svi će biti tamo," mislila je Anja.

"Everyone will be there," Anja thought.

  • "Moram izgledati najbolje.

"I have to look my best."

With a little money in her pocket, she set out for the market.

  • Tržište je bilo užurbano.

    The market was bustling.

  • Ljudi su trgovali, smijali se i razgovarali.

People were trading, laughing, and talking.

Anja walked between the stalls, looking for her perfect dress.

At the first stall, she saw a simple blue dress.

  • Prodavač je bio grub.

    The vendor was gruff.

  • "To je 100 kuna," rekao je bez osmijeha.

"That's 100 kunas," he said without a smile.

  • Anja je provjerila svoj novac.

    Anja checked her money.

  • Imala je samo 80 kuna.

    She only had 80 kunas.

  • "Oprostite, nemam dovoljno," rekla je tiho i nastavila dalje.

"Sorry, I don't have enough," she said quietly and moved on.

The next stall offered beautiful dresses, but they were even more expensive.

  • Anja je osjećala kako joj srce brže kuca.

    Anja felt her heart racing.

  • Što će učiniti?

    What would she do?

  • Dok je hodala, ugledala je haljinu svojih snova.

As she walked, she spotted the dress of her dreams.

  • Bila je bijela s plavim cvjetovima.

It was white with blue flowers.

The vendor was an older lady with a warm smile.

  • "Koliko košta ova haljina?

    "How much for this dress?"

  • " pitala je Anja s nadom u očima.

    Anja asked, hopeful.

  • "120 kuna," odgovorila je žena ljubazno.

"120 kunas," the woman replied kindly.

  • Anja je ponovno provjerila svoj novac.

    Anja checked her money again.

  • Nedostajalo joj je 40 kuna.

    She was 40 kunas short.

  • Teška srca, počela je odlaziti.

With a heavy heart, she started to walk away.

  • "Čekaj," viknula je prodavačica.

    "Wait," the vendor called out.

"I see you really like this dress.

  • Koliko imaš?

    How much do you have?"

  • ""Imam samo 80 kuna," odgovorila je Anja.

"I only have 80 kunas," Anja replied.

"I like you, little girl," the vendor said with a smile.

  • "Za tebe će biti 80 kuna.

"For you, it will be 80 kunas."

  • "Anja nije mogla vjerovati svojim ušima.

    Anja couldn't believe her ears.

  • "Stvarno?

    "Really?

  • Hvala vam puno!

    Thank you so much!"

  • "Osjećaj sreće i olakšanja rasplinuo se kroz Anju.

A feeling of happiness and relief washed over Anja.

She paid for the dress and with it in a bag, headed back to the orphanage.

  • Haljina je bila savršena.

    The dress was perfect.

  • Osjećala se lijepo i sretno.

    She felt beautiful and happy.

  • Na ljetnom festivalu, Anja je bila presretna.

At the summer festival, Anja was overjoyed.

  • Osjećala je novu sigurnost u sebi.

She felt a new sense of confidence.

All the children noticed her, and she felt accepted.

  • Tada je shvatila jednu važnu lekciju: ljubaznost i upornost uvijek se isplate.

Then she realized one important lesson: kindness and perseverance always pay off.

And as she watched the fireworks, Anja knew that from now on, everything would be better.
