雪がしんしんと降る横須賀海軍基地。

Snow falls softly on the Yokosuka Naval Base.

冬の冷たい風が吹き、手袋をしても指先が冷たくなる。

The cold winter wind blows, and even with gloves on, fingertips feel chilly.

アキラはマフラーを顔に巻いて、待合室で震えながら立っていた。

Akira wraps his scarf around his face and stands shivering in the waiting room.

その隣には、友人のユミが寄り添って立っている。

Next to him, his friend Yumi stands close by.

二人とも、アキラのパートナー、ケンジが乗る船が帰ってくるのを待っていた。

Both of them are waiting for Akira's partner, Kenji, whose ship is returning.

「大丈夫だよ、アキラ。きっとすぐにケンジ君が帰ってくるから。」ユミは優しくそう言いながら、アキラの肩に手を置いた。

“It’s okay, Akira. Kenji will come back soon, I’m sure of it,” Yumi says gently, placing a hand on Akira's shoulder.

しかし、アキラの心は不安でいっぱいだった。

But Akira's heart is filled with anxiety.

ニュースでは、冬の嵐が海上を荒らしていると言っていた。

The news had reported that a winter storm was raging at sea.

果たしてケンジの船は無事に帰港できるのだろうか。

Would Kenji's ship be able to return safely?

時間はゆっくりと過ぎていく。

Time passes slowly.

基地には、ほかの家族や恋人たちも集まっていた。

Other families and loved ones have also gathered at the base.

しばらくして、スピーカーからアナウンスが流れ始める。

After a while, an announcement begins to flow from the speakers.

「ただいま、○○艦が入港します。」

“The @O{} ship is now arriving.”

アキラはハッと顔を上げ、遠くの海を見つめた。

Akira lifts his head in surprise and stares at the distant sea.

その瞬間、雪の中を船がゆっくりと近づいてくるのが見えた。

At that moment, he sees a ship slowly approaching through the snow.

アキラの胸は高鳴る。

Akira's heart races.

ケンジが戻ってくる――その思いで心がいっぱいになる。

Kenji is coming back—his heart fills with that thought.

船が岸に着き、次々と乗組員たちが降りてくる。

The ship docks, and the crew members disembark one after another.

やがて、ケンジがみんなの後ろから現れた。

Finally, Kenji appears from behind everyone.

「ケンジ！」アキラは思わず駆け出した。

“Kenji!” Akira instinctively breaks into a run.

ケンジもアキラに向かって走ってくる。

Kenji runs toward Akira as well.

二人はそのまましっかりと抱き合った。

They tightly embrace each other.

寒さも嵐も、もうどうでもよかった。

The cold and the storm no longer mattered.

ちょうどその頃、基地の上空で新年を祝う花火が上がった。

Just then, fireworks celebrating the New Year lit up the sky above the base.

大空に大輪の花が咲き、明るい光が辺りを照らす。

Large blooms of light blossom in the sky, illuminating the surroundings brightly.

アキラとケンジは手を取り合い、空を見上げた。

Akira and Kenji hold hands and look up at the sky.

新しい年が二人に訪れた。

A new year had come for them.

アキラは心の中で思う。

Akira thinks in his heart.

この再会にたどり着くまでの不安はもう消え去り、代わりに深い希望と感謝の気持ちが残った。

The anxiety that led up to this reunion has faded away, replaced by a deep sense of hope and gratitude.

これからも大切な人と共に過ごす時間を、大事にしたいと思った。

He wants to cherish every moment spent with his loved one in the future.

そして、二人は寄り添いながら、基地の明かりが輝く中、ゆっくりと歩き出した。新しい年のスタートを、一緒に迎える準備をしながら。

And so, as they walk slowly, nestled close together, with the base's lights sparkling, Akira and Kenji prepare to welcome the start of a new year together.
