春の風は優しく、桜の花びらが空を舞っていました。

The spring wind was gentle, and the sakura petals danced in the sky.

ここは小さな孤児院です。周りにたくさんの桜の木がありました。

This is a small orphanage surrounded by many cherry blossom trees.

今日は子どもの日です。

Today is Children's Day.

この孤児院では、たくさんの子どもたちが新しい家族を待っていました。

In this orphanage, many children were waiting for new families.

優希は十歳の女の子です。

Yuki is a ten-year-old girl.

彼女には夢があります。

She has a dream.

それは、ハナと一緒に新しい家族を見つけることです。

That is to find a new family together with Hana.

ハナは優希の親友で、いつも彼女を応援しています。

Hana is Yuki's best friend and always supports her.

でも、今年は来る親たちが少ないと聞きました。

さらに、もし来たとしても、兄弟を一緒にという希望が叶うか分かりません。

その時、孤児院のタロウさんが話しかけてくれました。

At that moment, kojiin caretaker Taro-san spoke to her.

タロウさんは優しいけれど控えめな人です。

Taro-san is a kind but reserved person.

「今日は子どもの日だ。何か特別なことをしてはどう？」と彼は言いました。

"Today is Children's Day. Why not do something special?" he suggested.

優希の頭にアイデアが浮かびます。

An idea popped into Yuki's head.

「お祭りをしよう！」と優希は決めました。

"Let's have a festival!" Yuki decided.

みんなで準備します。

Everyone started preparing.

カラフルなこいのぼりを飾ります。

Colorful koinobori were put up.

紙でつくった兜（かぶと）をかぶります。

Paper samurai helmets were worn.

優希は元気いっぱいに動きました。

Yuki moved energetically.

ハナも手伝いました。

Hana helped as well.

二人は並んで歌をうたいました。

The two sang songs side by side.

「たのしいね！」とハナが笑いました。

"It's fun!" Hana laughed.

これで親たちが喜んでくれるかもしれない、と優希は心の中で思いました。

Yuki thought to herself that this might make the visiting parents happy.

その日、数人の親たちが孤児院にやってきました。

That day, a few parents came to the orphanage.

あるカップルはハナに興味を持ちました。

One couple showed interest in Hana.

でも、優希にはあまり関心がなさそうです。

However, they didn't seem very interested in Yuki.

優希は不安になりました。

This made Yuki anxious.

彼女は努力しましたが、やはり一人きりになってしまうのかもしれない、と心配しました。

She worried that despite her efforts, she might end up alone.

しかし、お祭りが進むにつれ、カップルは目をキラキラさせました。

祭りの最後に、カップルは優希と話しました。

Amidst the sakura fubuki, the two headed towards their new home together.
