夏のある日、京都の有名なアラシヤマ竹林が静かにざわめいていました。

竹が風に揺れ、ささやかな音を立てていました。

ちょうどその日、京都の夏祭り、祇園祭が街を賑わせていました。

On that particular day, the Gion Festival, a summer festival in Kyoto, was enlivening the town.

ハルトは妹のあいこと一緒に家を出ました。

Haruto left home with his younger sister Aiko.

彼らの親は「夜の竹林には近寄ってはいけない」と警告しましたが、ユウキが行方不明になった今、そんなことを考えてはいられませんでした。

Their parents had warned them, "Don’t go near the bamboo grove at night," but with Yuki missing, they couldn't afford to think about such things.

「ユウキ、どこにいるんだろう」とハルトは心配そうに言いました。

"Yuki, where could you be?" Haruto said worriedly.

あいこは優しい声で「大丈夫、兄さん。

私たちが見つけられるよ」と言いました。

We’ll find him."

竹林の中は迷宮のようでした。

Inside the bamboo grove was like a labyrinth.

ランタンの明かりは薄暗く、道はわかりづらかったです。

The light from the lanterns was dim, and the path was hard to make out.

「ああ、ここを曲がったらいいかも」とあいこが自信満々に言いました。

"Ah, maybe we should turn here," Aiko said confidently.

彼女はいつも直感が鋭いからです。

She always had sharp intuition.

やがて二人は、隠れた広場に辿り着きました。

Eventually, the two of them reached a hidden clearing.

そこには異様な雰囲気が漂っていました。

「彼を返してくれ！」その瞬間、あいこは幽霊に近づき、その目を真っすぐ見つめました。

"Give him back!" In that instant, Aiko approached the apparition and stared straight into its eyes.

「悲しみを感じます。

"I feel sadness.

あなたはこの場所に縛られているのですか？」と優しく尋ねました。

Are you bound to this place?" she asked gently.

幽霊は一瞬黙り、そして傷ついた声で答えました。「この昔、ここに何かを失いました。

The apparition paused momentarily and then answered in a wounded voice, "Long ago, I lost something here.

それを取り戻したかったのです。」ハルトはそれを聞いて、ユウキを取り戻すために新しい提案をしました。

I wanted to reclaim it." Hearing this, Haruto proposed a new idea to retrieve Yuki.

「その思いを私たちと分かち合ってくれませんか？」

"Will you share that feeling with us?"

その言葉に幽霊は頷き、光が柔らかく広がりました。

The apparition nodded at those words, and the light spread softly.

ユウキは徐々に意識を取り戻しました。

「ありがとう」とその幽霊は静かに言って、消え去っていきました。

"Thank you," the apparition said quietly and vanished.
