秋の日、ハルと、ケイコ、ナオコの3人が青木ヶ原の森に集まりました。

散策を始めると、ナオコは楽しげに先を歩き出しました。

As they began their walk, Naoko cheerfully took the lead.

彼女は秋の葉っぱを踏みしめ、サクサクと音を立てます。

She stepped on the autumn leaves, making a crunching sound.

「みんな、見て！この葉っぱの色、すごく綺麗だね！」と彼女は言いました。

"Everyone, look! The color of these leaves is so beautiful!" she said.

しかしハルとは静かです。

However, Haru remained quiet.

彼には別の目的がありました。

He had another purpose.

ケイコに父の最後の日々について話したかったのです。

He wanted to talk to Keiko about their father's last days.

歩くうちに、ついに彼は勇気を振り絞りました。

As they walked, he finally mustered up the courage.

「ケイコ、少し話せないかな？」ハルとは森の中の小さな開けた場所に立ち止まりました。

"Keiko, can we talk for a bit?" Haru stopped at a small clearing in the forest.

ケイコは頷いて、ハルとの向かいに座りました。

Keiko nodded and sat across from Haru.

「父さんとの最後の口論、ずっと気にかけてるんだ」とハルとは言いました。

"I've been haunted by our last argument with Dad," Haru said.

「あの瞬間がずっと頭から離れなくて…」

"That moment just won't leave my mind..."

ケイコは静かに聞いていました。

Keiko listened quietly.

「私もあれは痛かった。でも、父さんはあなたを大切に思っていたよ」と彼女は優しく言いました。

"That was painful for me too. But Dad cared about you," she said gently.

「本当に？」ハルとが質問しました。

"Really?" Haru asked.

「あの時、全くそんなふうには感じなかった…」

"At that time, I didn’t feel that way at all..."

ケイコは微笑みました。

Keiko smiled.

「父さんはいつもあなたのことを心配してた。思いのすれ違いがあっただけ。あなたを嫌ってなどいなかったよ。」

"Dad was always worried about you. It was just a misunderstanding. He never disliked you."

ハルとはその言葉に涙をこらえました。

Haru held back his tears at those words.

「ありがとう、ケイコ。これでやっと心が軽くなったよ。」彼は少しの安心を感じ始めました。

"Thank you, Keiko. This finally lightens my heart a bit," he said, beginning to feel a sense of relief.

2人はしばらく無言で座り続けました。

The two of them sat in silence for a while.

風が優しく木々を揺らし、その音が耳に心地よく響く中、ハルとは心の重荷を下ろしました。

As the wind gently rustled the trees, filling their ears with a soothing sound, Haru let go of the burden in his heart.

「これからは、もっと兄妹として近くいたい」とハルとは申し出ました。

"From now on, I'd like to be closer as siblings," Haru suggested.

ケイコは嬉しそうに頷きました。

Keiko nodded happily.

「私もその方がいいわ。」

"I think that's better too."

夕暮れ時、3人は森を後にしました。
