Kristaps sēdēja pie sava galda koledžas kopmītnēs, kur gaiss bija piepildīts ar grāmatu smaržu un mājasdarbu čaukstiem.
Kristaps sat at his desk in the college dormitory, where the air was filled with the scent of books and the rustle of homework.
Blakus viņam atradās Māra, kura sapņaini lūkojās pa logu uz krītošajām lapām.
Next to him was Māra, who dreamily gazed out the window at the falling leaves.
"Zini," Māra teica, "mēs esam pelnījuši piedzīvojumu ziemas brīvlaikā.
"You know," Māra said, "we deserve an adventure over the winter break."
"Kristaps piekrita ar galvu.
Kristaps nodded in agreement.
"Jā, bet mums jāsaplāno tā, lai visi būtu apmierināti," viņš atbildēja.
"Yes, but we need to plan it so that everyone is satisfied," he replied.
The room was filled with maps and travel brochures, but the problem was finding the time and money.
He also had to think about his studies, which demanded more of his attention.
Liene pievienojās sarunai.
Liene joined the conversation.
She was pragmatic and composed, but Kristaps often noticed that she was pensive.
"Ja mēs iesim ceļojumā, tas nedrīkst traucēt mācībām.
"If we go on a trip, it must not interfere with our studies.
Es arī gribētu ko vairāk," viņa pateica.
I would also like something more," she said.
Kristaps sajuta, ka aiz Lienes vārdiem slēpjas kas cits.
Kristaps felt that something else was hiding behind Liene's words.
After a few days, when the plans were still unclear, he approached Liene.
"Kas tev uz sirds?
"What's on your mind?"
" Kristaps vaicāja.
Kristaps asked.
Liene vilcinājās, bet tad atzinās: "Es gribu ceļot viena, mazliet izkļūt no rutīnas un apdomāt nākamo semestri.
Liene hesitated, but then confessed, "I want to travel alone, to break away from the routine and contemplate the next semester."
"Kristaps bija pārsteigts, bet viņš saprata.
Kristaps was surprised, but he understood.
"Mēs saplānosim savu ceļojumu ar Māru, un tu darīsi, kā tev pašai vajag," viņš piedāvāja.
"We will plan our trip with Māra, and you do what you need to do," he offered.
Liene pasmaidīja un piekrita.
Liene smiled and agreed.
Galu galā trīs draugi nolēma braukt savā ceļā.
In the end, the three friends decided to go their separate ways.
Kristaps un Māra devās uz mežonīgu, ziemīgs Latvijas kalnu vietu, kamēr Liene devās izpētīt radošu pilsētu.
Kristaps and Māra headed to a wild, wintry Latvijas mountain area, while Liene went to explore a creative city.
Kopmītnēs kļuva klusāk, bet nozīmīgākā bija draudzība, kura nebija pazudusi.
The dormitory became quieter, but the most important thing was the friendship that hadn't disappeared.
They delved into their small worlds in anticipation of the academic semester, but agreed to meet again after the break to share their impressions.
Kristaps saprata, cik svarīgi ir atbalstīt citu izvēles, pat ja tās atšķiras no savējām.
Kristaps realized how important it is to support others' choices, even if they differ from his own.
Liene ieguva drosmi izteikt savas vēlmes atklāti.
Liene gained the courage to express her wishes openly.
The winter wind blew warmly through the window, the divergent paths spread out, but the friendship that held them together was stronger than any break or destination.
