Sindre så ut av vinduet.
Sindre looked out the window.
The snow was falling thickly, covering the landscape in a thick white layer.
He was sitting on the bus, three hundred kilometers from Oslo.
It was New Year's Eve, and he was going to surprise Kari.
Hun visste ikke at han kom.
She didn't know he was coming.
Kari lived in Oslo, and they had been in a long-distance relationship for a year.
Sindre følte nervene i magen.
Sindre felt nerves in his stomach.
He was excited to see Kari, but also to see if the spark was still there.
After half a year in Trondheim, they had only seen each other a few times.
He asked himself if it was worth the struggle.
But then he smiled at the thought of her, and all doubt disappeared.
Plutselig stoppet bussen.
Suddenly the bus stopped.
The road was covered in snow, and traffic was at a standstill.
"Vi er forsinket," meldte sjåføren.
"We are delayed," announced the driver.
Sindre så på klokken, tiden rant ut.
Sindre looked at the clock, time was running out.
Han visste han måtte ta en beslutning.
He knew he had to make a decision.
Next to him sat a man with a bicycle.
Sindre la merke til det.
Sindre noticed it.
"Kan jeg låne sykkelen din?
"Can I borrow your bike?"
" spurte han, desperat.
he asked, desperate.
Mannen så skeptisk ut, men Sindre forklarte situasjonen.
The man looked skeptical, but Sindre explained the situation.
Mannen smilte vennlig og nikket.
The man smiled kindly and nodded.
"Ta den," sa han.
"Take it," he said.
Sindre takket ham, kastet sekken over skulderen, og gikk ut i snøen.
Sindre thanked him, threw his backpack over his shoulder, and went out into the snow.
Oslo Central Station var full av folk.
Oslo Central Station was full of people.
The lights glittered, and there was hectic activity everywhere.
Men Sindre så bare en destinasjon: Kari.
But Sindre saw only one destination: Kari.
On the bike, he battled against the snow and wind.
Han måtte komme frem før midnatt.
He had to get there before midnight.
He thought of Kari, and it gave him strength.
He passed cars stuck in place, people hurrying towards the station, and he felt the cold air on his face.
The clock was nearing twelve when he arrived at the station.
He jumped off the bike and ran into the crowd.
People were happy and in a festive mood, which drove him onward.
Der, midt i mengden, så han Kari.
There, in the middle of the crowd, he saw Kari.
Hun sto under stjerner og fyrverkeri.
She stood under stars and fireworks.
She looked surprised when she caught sight of him.
In the last seconds before midnight, he ran towards her, heart pounding.
Idet klokken slo tolv, nådde fyrverkeriet himmelen.
As the clock struck twelve, the fireworks reached the sky.
Sindre var fremme.
Sindre had made it.
Han pustet tungt, men smilte bredt.
He was breathing heavily but was smiling broadly.
"Kari," sa han, med et smil.
"Kari," he said, with a smile.
Hun så på ham, forbauset og rørt.
She looked at him, surprised and moved.
"Sindre!
"Sindre!
Hva gjør du her?
What are you doing here?"
" spurte hun, lykkelig.
she asked, happily.
"Jeg ville bare vise deg… At du er viktig for meg," svarte han.
"I just wanted to show you... That you are important to me," he replied.
De omfavnet hverandre.
They embraced each other.
Rundt dem feiret folk det nye året.
Around them, people were celebrating the new year.
In that moment, Sindre knew that the distance no longer mattered.
For kjærligheten deres hadde vunnet.
For their love had won.
He had taken a chance, and that was all it took.
Under the starry Oslo sky, with fireworks as a backdrop, they stood together.
For Sindre, this was the start of a new chapter.
En ny begynnelse med Kari.
A new beginning with Kari.
Han hadde lært at noen ganger må man ta sjanser.
He had learned that sometimes you have to take chances.
For kjærlighetens skyld.
For the sake of love.
