“Vamos começar devagar”, ele disse com um sorriso encorajador.

“Let's start slow,” he said with an encouraging smile.

Camila, melhor amiga de Larissa, estava lá para apoiar.

Camila, Larissa's best friend, was there to support her.

Ela sempre incentivava Larissa a tentar coisas novas.

She always encouraged Larissa to try new things.

"Olhando daqui, o mar parece tranquilo", disse Thiago, apontando para as ondas que quebravam suavemente perto da orla.

"Looking from here, the sea seems calm," said Thiago, pointing to the waves that broke gently near the shore.

Mas, por dentro, Larissa sentia um frio na barriga.

But inside, Larissa felt a knot in her stomach.

E, como se não bastasse, o movimento vibrante do Carnaval ao redor tornava difícil se concentrar.

And, as if that weren't enough, the vibrant motion of Carnaval around made it hard to concentrate.

Eles caminharam até a beira do mar.

They walked to the edge of the sea.

Thiago mostrou a Larissa como subir na prancha e se equilibrar.

Thiago showed Larissa how to get on the board and balance.

“Você consegue, confie em si mesma”, ele disse.

“You can do it, trust yourself,” he said.

Larissa tentou.

She tried.

E falhou.

And failed.

Caiu várias vezes na água.

She fell into the water several times.

Cada queda parecia aumentar seu receio.

Each fall seemed to increase her fear.

Camila gritava da praia: "Você é incrível, Lari!

Camila shouted from the beach: "You're amazing, Lari!

Continue tentando!"

Keep trying!"

Depois de muitas tentativas e alguns tropeços, Larissa sentou na prancha, respirou fundo e olhou para o horizonte.

After many attempts and some stumbles, Larissa sat on the board, took a deep breath, and looked at the horizon.

Ela precisava daquele momento.

She needed that moment.

Lembrou-se de todas as suas conquistas, de tudo o que já superou.

She remembered all her achievements, everything she had already overcome.

Com uma determinação renovada, ela se posicionou novamente.

With renewed determination, she got into position again.

Uma onda se aproximava.

A wave was approaching.

Thiago a incentivou: "Essa é sua, Larissa, vai!"

Thiago encouraged her: "This one is yours, Larissa, go!"

Larissa remou, sentindo o coração bater forte.

She paddled, feeling her heart pound.

Quando a onda a alcançou, ela se ergueu, vacilante no início, mas logo se estabilizou.

When the wave reached her, she stood up, wobbly at first, but soon stabilized.

A sensação era indescritível.

The feeling was indescribable.

O vento no rosto, o som do mar, o sol aquecendo sua pele.

The wind on her face, the sound of the sea, the sun warming her skin.

Everything made sense.

Ela estava lá, deslizando sobre a água, livre.

Quando a onda terminou, Larissa caiu na água, mas agora com um sorriso gigante no rosto.

Com a nova confiança, juntou-se aos amigos na celebração, já sonhando com a próxima onda que surfaria.

With her newfound confidence, she joined her friends in the celebration, already dreaming of the next wave she would surf.

Naquela tarde, nas areias douradas de Ipanema, cercada pela música e alegria do Carnaval, Larissa encontrou algo mais que um amor pelo surf: ela encontrou coragem e uma nova paixão pela vida.

That afternoon, on the golden sands of Ipanema, surrounded by the music and joy of Carnaval, Larissa found more than a love for surfing: she found courage and a new passion for life.
