The Torre de Belém stood majestically by the rio Tejo, its ancient stones covered with stories.

Rui planeava um momento especial.

Rui was planning a special moment.

Queria pedir Ana em casamento.

He wanted to propose to Ana.

Tinha tudo preparado: uma bonita aliança, um esconderijo secreto na torre, e um plano romântico.

He had everything prepared: a beautiful ring, a secret hiding spot in the tower, and a romantic plan.

A ideia era surpreender Ana ao pôr-do-sol.

The idea was to surprise Ana at sunset.

Enquanto esperava, Rui entrou numa pequena sala dentro da torre.

While waiting, Rui entered a small room inside the tower.

"Vou ensaiar", pensou.

"I'll rehearse," he thought.

Pegou a nota com o discurso.

He took out the note with the speech.

De repente, ouviu um barulho: "Cliquete."

Suddenly, he heard a noise: "Click."

A porta fechou-se, e Rui percebeu que estava trancado!

The door closed, and Rui realized he was locked in!

Tentou abrir, mas não teve sucesso.

He tried to open it, but was unsuccessful.

O coração de Rui disparou.

Rui's heart raced.

"Como vou pedir Ana em casamento?

"How am I going to propose to Ana?"

", desesperou.

he despaired.

Naquele instante, Rui lembrou-se do telemóvel no bolso.

"Tenho de ligar ao Joaquim", pensou.

Joaquim era o segurança da torre, sempre de bom humor.

Rui olhou para o ecrã do telemóvel.

A bateria estava quase a acabar.

"Ajuda ou Ana?

"Help or Ana?"

", hesitou.

Com a bateria a piscar, Rui fez uma escolha rápida.

With the battery flashing, Rui made a quick choice.

Procurou algo na sala e encontrou uma velha panela e uma colher de pau.

He searched for something in the room and found an old pot and a wooden spoon.

Começou a bater com força, esperando que Joaquim ouvisse.

He began to bang with force, hoping Joaquim would hear.

Fora da torre, Joaquim estava atento.

Outside the tower, Joaquim was alert.

Ouviu o som estranho e foi ver o que acontecia.

He heard the strange sound and went to see what was happening.

Ao perceber a situação, correu para libertar Rui.

Realizing the situation, he ran to free Rui.

A porta abriu-se e Rui saiu, aliviado.

The door opened, and Rui came out, relieved.

Joaquim riu, "Parece que a tua ideia de romantismo é barulhenta!"

Rui sorriu, agradecido, e correu para o local combinado.

Ana chegou pouco depois, encantadora como sempre.

Rui ajoelhou-se, ainda um pouco suado mas com o coração leve, e contou tudo a Ana.

Rui knelt, still a bit sweaty but with a light heart, and told everything to Ana.

Ela riu e disse que, mesmo com os percalços, era o pedido mais perfeito e autêntico que podia imaginar.

She laughed and said that, despite the mishaps, it was the most perfect and authentic proposal she could imagine.

Rui aprendeu que o amor não precisa de ser perfeito para ser verdadeiro.

Rui learned that love doesn't need to be perfect to be true.

E assim, com o rio Tejo a testemunhar, Ana disse "sim".

And so, with the rio Tejo as a witness, Ana said "yes."
