Борис stood at the entrance to Krasnaya ploshchad' and looked around.
Moskva had changed.
High-rise buildings, bright lights, and a sea of people.
He hadn't been here for many years, working as a businessman abroad.
But today was a special day.
Today he was supposed to meet with his younger sister Irina.
Irina was waiting for him at the monument to Minin and Pozharsky.
She noticed her brother from afar and waved to him.
Boris felt his heart beat faster.
He was nervous about how their meeting and conversation would go.
But he had to take the first step.
A warm summer sun shone, the smells of food wafted from street stalls, and the sounds of guitars from street musicians filled the air.
Irina waved her hand:
— Borya!
As he came closer, Boris noticed how his sister had changed.
Her eyes remained as friendly as in childhood, but they now had a different gleam — wisdom and calm.
They hugged, and Boris felt the distance of years melt away.
But there were questions left.
— How are you, brother? How's life? — Irina began cheerfully.
— Life takes us here and there, after all, — Boris replied with a smile.
— Actually, I sometimes miss our childhood.
They slowly walked across Krasnaya ploshchad'.
Boris recalled how, as children, they ran here, ate ice cream, and went sledding in winter.
He began sorting through childhood memories, trying to find something in common that would help rebuild the bond with his sister.
— Do you remember how we used to hide from mom behind the Kremlin? — Irina suddenly asked.
Boris froze.
Yes, he had forgotten about that.
But now, when his sister reminded him, the picture came alive in his memory again.
Strikingly vivid and warm.
— Of course, I remember, — said Boris, looking into her eyes.
— Was it really so hard to remember such happiness?
Irina smiled:
— We were always together, Borya.
And not even distance changes that.
They stopped.
There were tourists and children all around, but at that moment, it was just the two of them.
Boris felt their connection being restored.
Boris hugged Irina tightly, feeling what home truly means.
It was not a building, not a city, but the people you love.
Doubt was no longer in his mind — he could always come back here, to her, to their memories.
Moskva, suddenly, became his hometown again.
Irina whispered:
— I'm glad you came back.
Boris smiled:
— So am I, Irochka.
So am I.
They stood there, on Krasnaya ploshchad', embracing, relying on memories and new hope, understanding that true closeness is always in the heart, despite time and distances.
