In Bratislave, in a dormitory full of history, preparations were underway for the feast of svätého Martina.

  • Listy už dlho padali zo stromov a dýchali farebnosťou jesene.

Leaves had long been falling from the trees and breathed with the colors of autumn.

Teachers and students were getting ready for the celebrations, but Marek's inner world remained frozen.

  • Chodby internátu zvonili smiechom a ruchom.

The dormitory halls rang with laughter and commotion.

  • Krásne ozdobené veniecmi a lampiónmi lákali.

Beautifully decorated with wreaths and lanterns, they were inviting.

  • No Marek bol myšlienkami inde.

    But Marek's thoughts were elsewhere.

He stood by the window and watched as his classmates rehearsed dance steps and prepared stalls in the yard.

  • Cítil sa cudzí.

    He felt alien.

  • V rukách držal svoj milovaný husľový obal.

In his hands, he held his beloved violin case.

Music was his friend, but only quietly, for himself.

  • Marek našiel útechu vo svojej izbe, kde zdieľal priestor s Ivanou, dievčaťom veselým ako jar.

Marek found solace in his room, where he shared the space with Ivanou, a girl as cheerful as spring.

Ivana saw the sadness in his eyes and irresistibly asked him, "Marek, why are you always so closed off?

  • Stane sa niečo?

    Is something happening?"

  • “Marek sa zadíval na zem.

Marek looked down at the ground.

  • „Chcel by som zahrať na sviatku.

"I would like to play at the feast.

  • Neviem, či je to dobrý nápad.

    I don't know if it's a good idea.

  • Čo ak to pokazím?

    What if I ruin it?"

  • “Ivana sa usmiala.

    Ivana smiled.

  • „Marek, to, čo máš v sebe, musíš zdieľať.

"Marek, what you have inside you, you must share.

  • Hudba je dar.

    Music is a gift.

  • Pomôžem ti.

    I'll help you.

  • Môžeme trénovať spolu.

    We can practice together."

  • “S jej pomocou Marek začal precvičovať.

With her help, Marek began to practice.

  • Cítil sa slobodnejší, keď mohol hrať bez obáv.

He felt freer when he could play without fear.

  • Každý tón mu prinášal väčšiu odvahu.

Each note brought him greater courage.

  • Nastal sväto-martinská oslava.

    The feast of sväto-martinská arrived.

  • Dvor praskal ľuďmi.

The yard was bustling with people.

  • Marek vedel, že jeho chvíľa nastala.

Marek knew his moment had come.

  • Prišiel čas vystúpiť na improvizované pódium.

It was time to step onto the improvised stage.

  • Ivana ho povzbudila pohľadom.

Ivana encouraged him with a look.

  • Srdce mu bilo rýchlo.

    His heart was beating fast.

  • Zhlboka sa nadýchol a vstúpil na pódium.

He took a deep breath and stepped onto the stage.

  • Vzal do rúk husle.

He took the violin into his hands.

  • Keď začal hrať, všetko ostatné prestalo existovať.

When he started to play, everything else ceased to exist.

  • Jeho melódia znela čistým a úprimným tónom.

His melody sounded with a pure and sincere tone.

  • Dav sa zastavil, ľudia počúvali.

    The crowd stopped, people listened.

  • Marekove ruky krútili ladnými pohybmi sláka.

Marek's hands moved the bow with graceful movements.

  • Hudba naplnila dvor emóciou.

The music filled the yard with emotion.

  • Dokončil skladbu v tichom obdivu.

He finished the piece in quiet admiration.

  • Po chvíli začali tlieskať.

After a moment, they began to applaud.

  • Najprv niekoľkí, potom všetci.

    First a few, then everyone.

  • Teplý pocit radosti prešiel celým Marekovým telom.

A warm feeling of joy spread throughout Marek's body.

  • Konečne vedel, že patrí sem.

He finally knew that he belonged here.

With a smile, he looked at Ivanu, who joined in the applause.

From that moment on, Marek decided to be more open.

Music was the bridge that connected him with others.

In that dormitory, Marek now felt different.

He knew that even if he was afraid, he had to overcome it.

  • Objavil v sebe novú silu a našiel rodinu v priateľoch okolo seba.

He discovered new strength within himself and found a family in the friends around him.

Just as autumn signifies change, for him it was the beginning of something important and beautiful.
