V tejto zimnej krajine stáli Zuzana a Marek, dvaja súrodenci stratení v čase a spomienkach.

Bolo to prvé Vianoce, ktoré trávili bez rodičov.

It was the first Christmas they spent without their parents.

Stratu cítili každý inak, ale teraz sa rozhodli spolu sem prísť, na miesto, ktoré im pripomínalo detstvo.

Zuzana držala Mareka za rameno, jej staršie oči smerovali k výšinám ruin.

Zuzana held Marek by the shoulder, her older eyes directed towards the heights of the ruins.

„Pamätáš na tie letá, Marek? Ako sme sa naháňali po týchto stenách?“ spýtala sa tichým a jemným hlasom.

"Do you remember those summers, Marek? How we used to chase each other over these walls?" she asked in a quiet and gentle voice.

Marek len prikývol s úškrnom.

Marek just nodded with a smirk.

„Jasné, vždy si tvrdila, že si tu videla draka,“ zasmial sa a kopol do snehu.

"Sure, you always claimed you saw a dragon here," he laughed and kicked the snow.

Ale za jeho smiechom sa ukrývala hlbšia bolesť, ktorú sa bál ukázať.

„Chcem, aby sme mali novú tradíciu,“ povedala vážne.

"I want us to have a new tradition," she said seriously.

„Raz do roka sem prídeme a budeme spomínať. Rodičia by si to priali.“

"Once a year, we come here and remember. Parents would want that."

Marek sa zastavil.

Marek stopped.

Jeho obvyklý úškrn sa vytratil.

His usual smirk disappeared.

„Spomínať je dobré... ale bolí to,“ priznal napokon.

"Remembering is good... but it hurts," he finally admitted.

Ako stúpali, slnko už začalo zapadať a zimný vietor im v studenej objímačke šepkal staré piesne.

Na vrchole ruiny bol výhľad, ktorý bral dych.

Vzduch bol chladný a ostrý, ale sálala z neho akási čistota.

„Marek...“ začala Zuzana, keď sa obrátila ku svojmu bratovi, „pamätáš si na tú noc, keď nás otec varil grog a mama spievala vianočné koledy?“

"Marek..." Zuzana began as she turned to her brother, "do you remember that night when Dad made us grog and Mom sang Christmas carols?"

Jej hlas bol takmer slzavý, ale pevný.

Her voice was almost tearful, but steady.

Marek sa na ňu pozrel a jeho maska sa konečne rozpukla.

„Pamätám,“ povedal ticho.
