"Let's start with the maypole," Lars said.

  • Han tog banden i hans hand.

He took the ribbons in his hand.

  • "Man snurrar och snurrar", förklarade han.

"You spin and spin," he explained.

But then the ribbons got tangled in his arms.

  • Ingrid skrattade och hjälpte honom.

    Ingrid laughed and helped him.

  • Lars blev lite röd i ansiktet, men skrattade tillbaka.

"Now for the herring and schnapps," Lars said.

  • Dom satte ner vid ett bord.

They sat down at a table.

  • "Det här äts vid midsommar", sa han.

"This is what we eat on Midsummer," he said.

  • Ingrid smakade.

    Ingrid took a taste.

  • "Mums", sa hon.

    "Yum," she said.

  • Lars var glad.

    Lars was happy.

  • Han ville att Ingrid tycka om midsommar.

  • "Så här", sa han.

    "Like this," he said.

They danced, laughed, and sang songs about little frogs.

  • Ingrid lärde sig snabbt.

  • Lars var imponerad.

    Lars was impressed.

  • Det var en rolig dag.

    It was a fun day.

  • Solen gick ner, men folket blev kvar.

The sun went down, but the people stayed.

  • "Det är så vi gör", sa Lars.

"This is how we do it," Lars said.

  • Ingrid såg förvåntad ut.

    Ingrid looked surprised.

  • "Vi firar tills morgon", sa han.

"We celebrate until morning," he said.

  • Hon nickade och log.

    She nodded and smiled.

  • Ljusen tändes runt parken.

Candles were lit around the park.

  • Luften var varm.

    The air was warm.

  • Människorna var lyckliga.

    The people were happy.

  • Ingrid och Lars satt på en bänk.

  • "Tack för midsommar", sa Ingrid.

"Thank you for Midsummer," Ingrid said.

  • Lars log stort.

    Lars smiled big.

  • Han var glad.

    He was happy.

It was the best Midsummer he had ever had.

But most of all, Ingrid had embraced the Swedish tradition.

  • Och så var deras midsommaraventyr slut.

And so, their Midsummer adventure ended.

Although it started with tangles, it ended with laughter.
