  • Det var en helt vanlig söndag.

It was a completely ordinary Sunday.

Emma and Gustav stood in a long queue.

However, it lightened their mood that they were standing in the famous Swedish furniture store, Ikea.

They patiently waited for their turn to pick up their newly acquired Billy bookcase.

In general, they had no idea what they were getting themselves into.

After they paid and went home, they spread out all the parts on the floor.

  • Emma öppnade instruktionsboken.

    Emma opened the instruction manual.

  • Gustav granskade de mystiska trästycken och skruvar.

Gustav examined the mysterious wooden pieces and screws.

  • "Emma," sa Gustav.

    "Emma," Gustav said.

  • "Jag kan inte hitta del nummer sju.

"I can't find part number seven."

  • "Men Emma tittade bara på boken.

But Emma just looked at the book.

She said, "We start with part one, Gustav."

  • "Timmar passerade.

    Hours passed.

  • Gustav och Emma kämpade.

    Gustav and Emma struggled.

  • Skruvarna var hårda och trästyckena passade inte.

The screws were tight and the wooden pieces didn't fit.

  • De tog paus för att äta köttbullar.

They took a break to eat meatballs.

  • "Vi kan inte ge upp," sa Gustav.

"We can't give up," Gustav said.

"We won't give up," Emma said, "I have a plan."

  • "De följde instruktionerna igen.

    They followed the instructions again.

  • Ändå fanns det extra delar på golvet.

Yet, there were extra parts on the floor.

  • Men möbeln stod där.

    But the furniture stood there.

"It seems sturdy," Emma said, and they both let out a sigh of relief.

  • "Gustav, vad gör vi med extra delarna?

"Gustav, what do we do with the extra parts?"

  • " frågade Emma.

    Emma asked.

  • "In i lådan med dem," skrattade Gustav.

"Put them in the box," Gustav laughed.

  • Emma nickade.

    Emma nodded.

  • De var trötta men lyckade.

    They were tired but successful.

So, on a completely ordinary Sunday, Emma and Gustav built a Billy bookcase.

They had extra parts, but it didn't matter.

Billy stood proudly in their living room, ready to be filled with books.

Both Emma and Gustav smiled at each other - they had done it together.
