  • Erik hade en dröm.

    Erik had a dream.

  • En dröm om att bygga.

    A dream to build.

He sat in his red wooden house by the square, laughing with his friends Astrid and Ingrid.

  • Men allt var inte roligt.

    But everything wasn't fun.

  • För på golvet låg IKEA-lådor, överallt.

Because on the floor were IKEA boxes, everywhere.

  • De kändes som berg.

    They felt like mountains.

  • De skremde.

    They were intimidating.

  • "Vi kan göra det" sa Astrid.

"We can do it," said Astrid.

  • Hon lyfte upp en skruv.

    She lifted a screw.

  • "Ja, vi kan" ekade Ingrid.

    "Yes, we can," echoed Ingrid.

  • Hon tog en hammare.

    She grabbed a hammer.

  • Erik tittade på dem.

    Erik looked at them.

  • "Ok" sa han.

    "Okay," he said.

  • Så de började.

    So they started.

  • Erik med en bordsskiva.

    Erik with a tabletop.

  • Astrid med en skruv.

    Astrid with a screw.

  • Ingrid med hennes hammare.

    Ingrid with her hammer.

But the IKEA boxes were filled with cubes, cube after cube.

  • Erik satt på golvet.

    Erik sat on the floor.

He didn't know where all the cubes were supposed to go.

  • "Det är svårt" sa han.

    "This is hard," he said.

  • Astrid nickade.

    Astrid nodded.

  • Ingrid suckade.

    Ingrid sighed.

  • "Vi bor i Stockholm, i Sverige" sa Astrid.

"We live in Stockholm, in Sweden," said Astrid.

  • "IKEA är från Sverige.

    "IKEA is from Sweden.

  • Vi kan göra det.

    We can do this."

  • "Så de försökte igen.

    So they tried again.

  • De arbetade hela dagen.

    They worked all day.

  • De arbetade hela natten.

    They worked all night.

  • De byggde och byggde.

    They built and built.

  • Men vissa delar passade inte.

    But some parts didn't fit.

  • Vissa delar saknades.

    Some parts were missing.

  • "Det här är knasigt" sa Ingrid.

    "This is crazy," said Ingrid.

  • "Vi vet inte vad vi gör.

"We don't know what we're doing.

  • Vi har ingen hjälp.

    We have no help."

  • "Erik var ledsen.

    Erik was sad.

  • Han tittade på sina vänner.

    He looked at his friends.

  • "Vi behöver hitta en way" sa han.

"We need to find a way," he said.

  • Ingrid tog upp sin telefon.

    Ingrid picked up her phone.

  • "Jag vet någon som kan hjälpa.

"I know someone who can help."

  • "De ringde hennes mamma.

    They called her mom.

  • Hennes mamma hade varit i IKEA många gånger.

Her mom had been to IKEA many times.

  • Hon kunde hjälpa.

    She could help.

  • "Mam, vi har ett problem," sa Ingrid.

"Mom, we have a problem," said Ingrid.

"We're trying to build IKEA furniture but we have no instructions."

  • ""Åh, ni stackars!

    "Oh, you poor things!"

  • " sa mamman.

    said the mother.

  • Hon skrattade och gav råd.

    She laughed and gave advice.

  • "Ni måste tänka som IKEA.

"You have to think like IKEA."

  • " "Som IKEA?

    "Like IKEA?"

  • " frågade Erik.

    asked Erik.

  • "Ja, se på delarna.

    "Yes, look at the parts.

  • Vad ser de ut som?

    What do they look like?

  • Var ska de vara?

Where are they supposed to go?"

  • " sa mamman.

    said the mother.

  • Så de tittade.

    So they looked.

  • De tänkte.

    They thought.

  • De byggade.

    They built.

  • Och snart, möblerna började ta form.

And soon, the furniture started to take shape.

  • "Vi gör det!

    "We did it!"

  • " skrek Astrid.

    shouted Astrid.

  • "Vi bygger!

    "We built it!"

  • " I slutet av dagen stod möblerna där.

By the end of the day, the furniture stood there.

  • De log mot Erik, Astrid och Ingrid.

They smiled at Erik, Astrid, and Ingrid.

  • De hade gjort det.

    They had done it.

  • De hade byggt IKEA-möbler utan instruktioner.

They had built IKEA furniture without instructions.

All because they had talked, thought, and worked together.

  • Erik tittade på sina vänner.

    Erik looked at his friends.

"We can build anything," he said.

And they all laughed together, in the red house by the square, with IKEA furniture around them.

It wasn't easy, but they had made it.

  • Tillsammans.

    Together.
