Arthit, a young adventurer passionate about learning cultures, wants to fully experience the Loy Krathong festival.

He is accompanied by Kanok, a friend who generally prefers comfort.

With an atmosphere full of vibrant colors and the aroma of delicious Thai food, Arthit feels excited, while Kanok feels a bit uncomfortable.

เขาไม่ชอบที่แออัดและเสียงอึกทึกของตลาดน้ำ ท่ามกลางเสียงเพลงไทยเดิมที่ดังขึ้นจากลำโพง

He dislikes the crowd and the noise of the floating market amidst the traditional Thai music playing from loudspeakers.

They walk past vendor stalls along the walkway in the market and meet Pim, a local vendor selling krathongs.

However, when Arthit expresses his genuine interest in learning, Pim begins to open up more.

“กระทงมีความหมายอย่างไรคะ?” อาทิตย์ถามอย่างสนใจ

“What does a krathong symbolize?” Arthit asks curiously.

พิมยิ้มและตอบว่า “กระทงเป็นการขอขมาพระแม่คงคา และขจัดสิ่งไม่ดีออกไป ปล่อยให้ลอยไปกับน้ำ”

Pim smiles and responds, “A krathong is an offering to apologize to the Goddess of Water and to cast away bad things, letting them float away with the water.”

อาทิตย์ตัดสินใจว่าเขาจะอยู่ที่ตลาดจนค่ำ แม้กนกจะบ่นว่าเหนื่อยแล้วก็ตาม

Arthit decides to stay at the market until nightfall, even though Kanok complains of being tired.

เขาต้องการศึกษาและให้พิมเชื่อใจมากขึ้น

He wants to study more and gain Pim's trust.

เมื่อดวงจันทร์ขึ้นสูง พวกเขาเห็นกระทงนับร้อยลอยไปตามแม่น้ำ แสงเทียนส่องประกายระยิบระยับ

As the moon rises high, they see hundreds of krathongs floating down the river, their candlelight flickering.

สุดท้ายอาทิตย์และกนกก็ตัดสินใจร่วมลอยกระทงด้วยกัน

In the end, Arthit and Kanok decide to join in and float a krathong together.

They create a krathong and make a wish, then gently place it on the water’s surface.

“I didn’t think it would mean this much,” Kanok says softly, looking at Pim and Arthit with a changed perspective.

การเดินทางครั้งนี้ทำให้อาทิตย์เข้าใจและเห็นคุณค่าของวัฒนธรรมไทยมากขึ้น ส่วนกนกก็เปิดใจให้กับประสบการณ์ใหม่ๆ ที่แตกต่างจากสิ่งที่เขาคุ้นเคย

This journey made Arthit appreciate and understand more about Thai culture, while Kanok opened his mind to new experiences different from what he is used to.

แสงกระทงยังคงลอยลุยไปตามสายน้ำ ภายใต้ดวงจันทร์ส่องแสง

The light of the krathongs continues to drift along the stream under the shining moon.

ทั้งสามคนได้เรียนรู้และแบ่งปันความรู้สึกที่ต่างไปในวันนี้ ความทรงจำนี้จะตราตรึงในใจพวกเขาเป็นเวลานาน

The three of them learned and shared different feelings today, memories that will remain with them for a long time.
