Normally cheerful and talkative.

Elif'in gözleri, fincanlarındaki çayın buharına dalmıştı.

"Elif," said Emre, carefully, "I know it’s hard, but maybe sharing will help."

Elif’in gözleri buğulandı.

Elif's eyes misted over.

"Bir şeyler yanlış, Emre. O kadar korkuyorum ki... ya kötü bir şey çıkarsa?"

"Something’s wrong, Emre. I’m so scared… what if it’s something bad?"

Emre, Elif’in elini tuttu.

Emre held Elif's hand.

"Yalnız değilsin," dedi yumuşak bir sesle, "birlikte çözeriz. Doktora gitmek istemesen de yanında olacağım."

"You’re not alone," he said softly, "we’ll solve this together. Even if you don't want to go to the doctor, I’ll be by your side."

Elif derin bir nefes aldı.

Elif took a deep breath.

İtiraf etmekten başka çaresi yoktu.

She had no choice but to confess.

"Emre... korkuyorum. Doktordan korkuyorum."

"Emre... I'm scared. I'm scared of the doctor."

Emre ona güven verdi.

Emre reassured her.

"Beraber gideriz. Ben yanındayım."

"We’ll go together. I'm here for you."

Aralarındaki sessizlik, sıcak çayın buharı kadar yumuşaktı.

The silence between them was as soft as the steam from the hot tea.

Sonunda Elif başını salladı.

Finally, Elif nodded.

"Tamam. Bir randevu alacağım. Ama sen de benimle geleceksin."

"Okay. I’ll make an appointment. But you’ll come with me."

Emre gülümsedi.

Emre smiled.

"Elbette, Elif. Seni yalnız bırakmam."

"Of course, Elif. I won’t leave you alone."

İkili, çaylarını yudumlarken içirdikleri bu kısa ama derin konuşma onları rahatlatmıştı.

As the pair sipped their tea, this brief but deep conversation gave them comfort.
