На заході сонця, коли осінь розмальовувала Карпати золотими та червоними відтінками, Олеся й Микола йшли вузькою стежкою через густий ліс.

At sunset, when autumn painted the Karpaty in golden and red hues, Olesya and Mykola walked along a narrow path through the dense forest.

В їхньому селі ходили чутки про загадковий спів, що лунав з прогалини в лісі, коли небо стало темно-синім і зорі почали мерехтіти.

In their village, there were rumors about a mysterious song that echoed from a clearing in the woods when the sky turned dark blue and the stars began to twinkle.

Олеся зупинилася, прислухалася.

Olesya stopped and listened.

"Чуєш?

"Do you hear that?

Це знову те співання," – сказала вона з блиском в очах.

It's that singing again," she said with a sparkle in her eyes.

Її цікавило походження звуків.

She was intrigued by the origin of the sounds.

Вона була відважною, завжди готова до нових пригод.

She was brave, always ready for new adventures.

Микола знизав плечима.

Mykola shrugged.

"Це може бути небезпечно.

"It could be dangerous.

Ми не знаємо, що там," – він обережно сказав, озираючись на темніючі обриси дерев.

We don't know what's there," he said cautiously, glancing at the darkening outlines of the trees.

Він був скептичним, його природа була стриманою і передбачливою.

He was skeptical by nature, reserved and prudent.

"Ми маємо перевірити, що це," – заперечила Олеся, вже йдучи вперед.

"We have to check what it is," Olesya insisted, already moving forward.

Серце билося від передчуття загадки.

Her heart beat with the anticipation of the mystery.

Микола неохоче пішов слідом, йому було цікаво, але і тривожно.

Mykola reluctantly followed, curious yet apprehensive.

Стежка вела їх глибше в ліс.

The path led them deeper into the forest.

Ніч ставала все темнішою, але зорі горіли яскраво.

The night grew darker, but the stars shone brightly.

Нарешті вони вийшли на невелику прогалину.

Finally, they reached a small clearing.

Тут місяць освітлював усе навколо.

Here, the moon lit everything around.

І саме звідси лунали ті мелодії, такі чарівні, що здавалось, весь ліс співає.

It was from here that those melodies emanated, so enchanting that it seemed the whole forest was singing.

На прогалині, під деревами, вони побачили стару жінку.

In the clearing, under the trees, they saw an old woman.

Вона співала старовинну пісню, руки її якось дивно світилися в місячному вечері.

She was singing an ancient song, her hands somehow glowing strangely in the moonlit evening.

"Хто ви?

"Who are you?"

" – запитала Олеся, підступаючи ближче.

Olesya asked, stepping closer.

Стара жінка посміхнулася.

The old woman smiled.

"Я - хранителька цієї землі," – сказала вона лагідно.

"I am the guardian of this land," she said gently.

"Мій спів допомагає лісу приймати сезон, захищати його красу.

"My song helps the forest embrace the season, protecting its beauty."

"Микола зупинився поруч з Олесею, його очі розширилися від здивування й захоплення.

Mykola stopped beside Olesya, his eyes widening in amazement and admiration.

Стара жінка пояснила, що її спів творить гармонію в природі, зв’язуючи людей і землю.

The old woman explained that her song creates harmony in nature, linking people with the land.

Олеся зрозуміла, що її сміливість відкрила їй нову істину про містерію природи.

Olesya realized that her courage had revealed a new truth about the mystique of nature.

Микола ж усвідомив, що іноді чуття можуть бути гостріші за страхи.

Осінні дні ставали коротшими, але їхня дружба і довіра стали сильнішими.

І хоч вітер знову ніс шепіт лісу, вони знали, що деякі таємниці краще залишати, щоб вічність зберегла свою чарівність.

And though the wind once again carried the whispers of the forest, they knew that some mysteries are best left for eternity to preserve its enchantment.
